Matlock, Previews

Matty’s charade begins in earnest on Matlock Season 1 Episode 2, “Rome, in a Day,” as she officially starts her new role at Jacobson More.

Matlock Season 1 Episode 1, “Pilot,” ended with a pretty dramatic reveal that Matty wasn’t who she said she was. She isn’t actually Madaline Matlock, a former attorney and widow looking to get back into the game to support her grandson.

Rather, she is a wealthy, happily married former attorney whose actual last name is Kingston. She isn’t looking for a job because her financial circumstances forced her to do so.

She is really there to go undercover and find out which of the head attorneys at Jacobson More buried documents that would have gotten the opioids that killed her daughter off the streets decades earlier.

Flipping the entire plot on its head like that in the last five minutes of the episode left viewers with many questions. Questions about Matty’s plan, how she learned documents were buried, and how she and her family put this facade into motion.

And that’s before we even start asking questions about the big mystery. Who is responsible for the cover-up Matty wants to expose?

Now, nearly a month after the series premiere, viewers might start to get some answers as Matty works to establish herself at the firm so she can access the information she needs.
