Preview — 9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 1: Can the 118 Stop a Bee-nado?
What’s the buzz with the 118?
9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 1, “Buzzkill,” finds Gerrard reinstated as the 118’s captain and a swarm of bees — to put it very lightly — descending on Los Angeles.
It’s unlikely that those two events are influenced by one another, but they feel cosmically connected. The LAFD fired Vincent Gerrard for a history of sexist, judgmental, and unprofessional (to say the very least) behavior. Now, he’s back at the 118, and a trailer with 22 million bees crashes in LA. Coincidence?

The promo videos for “Buzzkill” tease the moment the 118 — and the call center — notices the “un-bee-lievable” emergency. It’s perfect and totally in character that Buck is the one to call the swarm a “bee-nado.” On the other hand, the trailer shows absolute, bee-induced chaos — on the ground and in the air.
Meanwhile, the photos appear to show the (relative) calm before the storm.
It looks like Athena is going on a trip — unless there’s another reason for those bags), and Bobby is working as a technical advisor on an action TV show called Hotshots. Entertainment Weekly shared the latter earlier this month in a sneak peek of 9-1-1 Season 8. Oh, and Eddie has a mustache for some reason.
Because those photos and videos only contain a glimpse at what’s to come, there’s still so much to anticipate about 9-1-1‘s three-episode premiere arc. As exciting as that is, it makes the wait until the show returns on Thursday, September 26, at 8/9c seem so much longer. Only a few more days, 9-1-1 fans!
