Time Bandits Canceled by Apple TV+ After One Season

News

The adventures of time traveler Kevin Haddock and the Time Bandits will not continue for a second season.

According to Deadline, Apple TV+ has canceled the series. The outlet attributes the cancellation to the series’ low viewership numbers. Despite the show doing well in the UK, it never cracked Nielsen’s Top 10 streaming rankings.

Apple TV+ bought the rights to the Time Bandits movie six years ago, intending to make it into a big-budget family series.

Variety confirmed the cancellation, crediting Apple TV+ for bringing in a lot of in-demand talent to produce the series.

Taika Waititi co-created the show with his co-collaborators, Jemaine Clement and Iain Morris, who produced Time Bandits.

Lisa Kudrow even headlined the Apple TV+ show. However, despite the impressive group of people working on Time Bandits, the series only lasted for ten episodes.

The Time Bandits show is based on the film of the same name. The series centers around a young, history-obsessed boy named Kevin Haddock. He gets dragged along in a series of adventures with a group of time-travel thieves who call themselves the Time Bandits.

Kevin ends up having to save his parents from mechanizations of demons, while his sister follows him through time. Kevin and the bandits end up in the crosshair of the petty squabble of the two omnipotent beings that represent pure evil in the world and God himself.

Lisa Kudrow plays Penelope, the de-facto leader of the bandits, while Kal-El Tuck plays the young Kevin Haddock.
