What to Watch on TV: House of the Dragon, The Umbrella Academy, and The Serpent Queen

Welcome to a new week and another round of What to Watch on TV! Our picks for the week of August 4th include several season finales, shows returning for their final season, and an animated premiere you don’t want to miss.

House of the Dragon – Sunday, August 4th

After two new Dragonriders claim the remaining dragons, who will win the war? House of the Dragon Season 2 finale airs Sunday, August 4th at 9/8c on HBO and MAX. 

Series Description: The reign of House Targaryen begins with this prequel to popular HBO series “Game of Thrones;” based on George R.R. Hotel Cocaine – Sunday, August 4th

The only way to get Valeria back is for Roman and Nestor to get help from agent Zulio. Meanwhile, the largest shipment of cocaine arrives in Miami. Hotel Cocaine Season 1 finale premieres Sunday, August 4th on MGM+.

Mayor of Kingstown – Sunday, August 4th

Sunny – Wednesday, August 7th

This week, Suzie meets Himé and her friends while Noriko plays shogi. Sunny Season 1 Episode 6, “Kyoto Manj?, So Delicious,” streams Wednesday, August 7th on Apple TV+.

Kold x Windy – Thursday, August 8th

After a little over a year, Kold x Windy is back with another season, following the life of a hip-hop and drill star. Kold x Windy Season 2 premieres Thursday, August 8th on ALLBLK.

Series Description: A hip-hop and drill star works to create a better life for herself and her son in the South Side of Chicago.

The Umbrella Academy – Thursday, August 8th

After premiering in 2019, it’s time to say goodbye to the Hargreeves siblings.  The Umbrella Academy series finale will be available to stream Thursday, August 8th on Netflix.

A new version of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is coming to Paramount+. The animated series will show the lives of these heroes as they navigate going to high school in New York City. Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles premieres Friday, August 9th  on Paramount+.

The Serpent Queen – Friday, August 9th

While Catherine gives up her seat on the Privy Council, Anjou wins one. As a religious war is coming, Queen Elizabeth visits the Netherlands. The Serpent Queen Season 2 Episode 5 airs Friday, August 9th at 8/7c on STARZ.
