One Piece Season 2 Adds Katey Sagal and Mark Harelik
The Straw Hat Pirates might have some new friends joining their fight in One Piece Season 2 very soon!
Netflix has announced, per Variety, that The Connors’s Katey Sagal and Preacher’s Mark Harelik have joined the series as live-action iterations of Dr. Kureha and Dr. Hiriluk respectively.
The double casting follows series creator Eiichiro Oda’s letter published on Netflix’s TUDUM, which teased upcoming news for One Piece Season 2.

“Yes, the live-action One Piece is currently in production, with filming well underway… I hope you can appreciate how amazing and determined they are for keeping their word,” Oda wrote.
In addition, Oda wrote that there would be more casting announcements and updates in the next few days until Friday, August 23.
Dr. Kureha was a highly anticipated character for fans. Many wanted The Bear’s Jamie Lee Curtis to take the role. Executive producers Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements told Deadline the star’s schedule was too busy.
Originally debuting in the Drum Island Arc, Kureha became an ally of the Straw Hat Pirates after Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) and his friends were attacked by Wapol (Rob Colletti) and his crew.

She cared for the crew and even offer her pet Chopper to serve as part of their crew. Throughout the rest of the manga and the anime, Chopper eventually had his lasting impact as a doctor and an officer for the Straw Hats.
Chopper was originally under the care of Dr. Hiriluk, who was a thief-turned-doctor. However, he had a caring heart and acted as a father figure for Chopper. He eventually died due to Chopper unintentionally poisoning him.
Sagal and Harelik join One Piece Season 2’s guest cast, including Daniel Lasker, Camrus Johnson, Jazzara Jaslyn, David Dastmalchian, Werner Coetser, Brendan Murray, Clive Russell, Callum Kerr, Julia Rehwald, Rob Colletti, and Ty Keogh.
One Piece Season 2 is currently in production.
