Peaky Blinders Movie Set at Netflix with Cillian Murphy Returning
Peaky Blinders is back!
It’s official! Cillian Murphy will reprise his role as Thomas Shelby in a Peaky Blinders movie on Netflix, made in association with BBC.
The project comes after the show’s six-season run ended with Tommy killing his cousin Michael and passing the family business to his sister, Ada.

Deadline exclusively reported that no plot details or further casting developments have been shared yet. However, the Peaky Blinders movie is set to begin production later this year with a script penned by creator Steven Knight and directed by Tom Harper, who directed the second half of the debut season.
Netflix shared the news on X, with a note from the star and executive producer. “It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me…It is very gratifying to be recollaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans,” Murphy shared.
“When I first directed Peaky Blinders over 10 years ago, we didn’t know what the series would become, but we did know that there was something in the alchemy of the cast and the writing that felt explosive,” Harper added, per Deadline.

“Peaky has always been a story about family – and so it’s incredibly exciting to be reuniting with Steve and Cillian to bring the movie to audiences across the world on Netflix,” Harper continued.
“I’m genuinely thrilled that this movie is about to happen. It will be an explosive chapter in the Peaky Blinders story. No holds barred. Full-on Peaky Blinders at war,” Knight said.
The series that debuted in 2013 on BBC Two in the UK (Netflix started streaming the series in 2014) follows the notorious gang led by Tommy Shelby in Birmingham, England in 1919. Tommy is described as “a crime boss set on moving up in the world no matter the cost.”
Caryn Mandabach, Knight, Murphy, and Guy Heeley produce the Peaky Blinders movie. The project’s executive producers include Harper, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren, and David Mason.
