‘Outlander’ Prequel Series ‘Outlander: Blood of My Blood’ in Production at STARZ
Outlander: Blood of My Blood, the Outlander prequel series following the love stories of Jamie and Claire’s parents, is in production at STARZ.
Like the flagship series, the first 10-episode season will be filmed in Scotland.
As previously announced, Outlander: Blood of My Blood will explore the relationship of Jamie Fraser’s parents, Ellen and Brian. STARZ confirmed today that it will also follow the origin story of Claire Fraser’s parents, Julia and Henry.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood “will center on these two parallel love stories set in two different time periods, with Jamie’s parents in the early 18th century Scottish Highlands and Claire’s parents in WWI England,” per its synopsis.
Harriet Slater, Jamie Roy, Hermione Corfield, and Jeremy Irvine will lead the cast.
Slater and Roy will portray Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser, respectively, while Corfield will play Julia Moriston, and Irvine will star as Henry Beauchamp.
“We’re thrilled to be telling the stories of these two couples,” Matthew B. Roberts, showrunner, executive producer, and writer on both Outlander and Outlander: Blood of My Blood, said.

“The origins of their relationships explore universal themes that transcend time periods and we’re so excited for fans to discover and fall in love with these characters and their love stories the way they have with Claire and Jamie,” Roberts added.
Inspired by Diana Gabaldon’s bestselling books, Outlander will celebrate its 10th anniversary this summer. The time-traveling romantic drama starring Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan debuted in 2014. Ronald D. Moore and Maril Davis developed Outlander for TV under their production banner, Tall Ship Productions.
The flagship series will air its final eight episodes of Season 7 later this year, with its 10-episode eighth and final season beginning production shortly in Scotland.
STARZ ordered Outlander: Blood of My Blood to series and renewed Outlander for Season 8 in January 2023, ahead of the premiere of Outlander Season 7 Episode 1, “A Life Well Lost,” in June 2023.

“Outlander: Blood of My Blood is, at its heart, a love story. It will explore what lengths a person will go to find love in a time when love is considered a luxury, and when marriages are made strategically, often for political or financial gain,” Roberts said in 2023.
“The title is a nod to Jamie Fraser’s marriage vow to Claire and there will be several names and faces that Outlander fans will know and recognize. Jamie and Claire’s TV story may be coming to an end with season eight, but Diana is continuing on with their literary journey in her wonderful book series and is working diligently on book ten,” he continued.
“With Jamie and Claire, and now Brian and Ellen, there is still so much more to come in the Outlander universe, and we cannot wait to continue sharing these stories with our dedicated fans,” Roberts concluded.
Roberts, Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, and Story Mining & Supply Company executive produce Outlander: Blood of My Blood. Diana Gabaldon will serve as a consulting producer. Sony Pictures Television produces the prequel series.
