Is It Cake? Sets Season 3 Premiere Date on Netflix
Netflix announces the renewal and return of its hit game show Is It Cake?
Deadline exclusively reported that the baking show and host Mikey Day will come back for Season 3 on Friday, March 29, on Netflix.
Is It Cake? Season 3 contains eight episodes, like the previous seasons, and will feature “bigger cakes, higher stakes, and wilder bakes,” per its synopsis.
A new batch of bakers will “push the boundaries of culinary craftsmanship, creating hyper-realistic cakes to trick and deceive their way to the ultimate cash prize. Once again, you’ll find yourself asking the question – is it real? Or… Is It Cake?”
Produced by Alfred Street Industries, Is It Cake? premiered on Netflix in March 2022, with its second season, Is It Cake, Too?, premiering in June 2023.
The Independent reported that the series quickly became Netflix’s most streamed television series at the time of its release.
Upon its Season 2 renewal, Netflix shared that the show’s first season “spent 4 weeks on Netflix’s global Top 10 English TV list and reached the Top 10 in TV in 75 countries around the world.”
The series follows contestants who recreate ordinary objects to trick celebrity judges in each episode. The winning contestant gains $5,000 and a chance to increase their prize fund by identifying real objects versus cake-made objects.
Past celebrity judges include Bobby Moynihan, Joel McHale, Anna Camp, and Michael Yo.
Is It Cake? takes inspiration from the viral internet trend that makes everyone question their own eyes. The trending videos show someone cutting into items to reveal whether they are cakes or not. These objects are so realistic-looking that viewers find it hard to determine if it is cake or the real object.
Dan Cutforth, Jane Lipsitz, Nan Strait, Dan Volpe, and Andrew Wallace executive produce the show. The first two seasons of Is It Cake? are available to stream on Netflix.
