NBC’s newest comedy, Extended Family, follows Jim (Jon Cryer) and Julia (Abigail Spencer), who, after an amicable divorce, decide to continue to raise their kids at the family home while taking turns on who gets to stay with them.

However, this dynamic becomes more complicated when Julie starts dating Trey (Donald Faison), the owner of the Boston Celtics.

On Extended Family Season 1 Episode 6, “The Consequences of Status,” Trey’s high profile gets him out of a speeding ticket, and Julia and Jim worry about the message that sends to their kids.

And in the clip below, we get an idea of what the relationship between Jim and his father is like.

Jim’s father, Bobby, raves about the shower in Jim and Julia’s home, comparing it to his own, which “smacks him in the face.”

He’s also interested in using their bidet, but Jim says he’ll have to ask Julia about that.

Extended Family stars Jon Cryer, Donald Faison, Abigail Spencer, Sofia Capanna, and Finn Sweeney.

Creator Mike O’Malley serves as showrunner and executive producer. Tom Werner, Jon Cryer, Wyc Grousbeck, Emilia Fazzalari, George Geyer, Victor Levin, Victoria Morrow, and James Widdoes also executive produce.

The real-life family dynamic of executive producers Grousbeck, Fazzalari, and Geyer inspired the series.
