General Hospital Brings 60th Anniversary Special to Primetime on ABC
General Hospital is celebrating its milestone 60th Anniversary with the General Hospital: 60 Years of Stars and Storytelling primetime special.
The daytime drama’s special event will air Thursday, January 4, 2024, at 10/9c on ABC. It will also be available to stream the following day on Hulu.
From former and current General Hospital cast members to celebrity guests, General Hospital: 60 Years of Stars and Storytelling will pull back the curtain on six decades in Port Charles.
The daytime drama has surpassed thousands of episodes since its series debut on ABC in 1963. Filmed in Hollywood, California, General Hospital aired its 15,000th episode on June 22, 2022. Additionally, the show is “known for elevating awareness for numerous health and social issues, often ahead of its time.”
With that legendary tenure, General Hospital holds the status of both the longest-running scripted drama and the longest-running American soap opera currently in production.
The cast members that General Hospital: 60 Years of Stars and Storytelling will feature include Maurice Benard, Jane Elliot, Genie Francis, Finola Hughes, Kelly Monaco, Laura Wright, and more.
They will share behind-the-scenes moments, bloopers, a special fan tribute, and more surprises to honor the Emmy Award-winning show’s legacy.
The event will also include special appearances by Dancing with the Stars Season 32 winner Val Chmerkovskiy, TV star Emma Samms, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, GRAMMY-winning singer/songwriter/actor Rick Springfield, and actress and writer Amber Tamblyn, among others.
Frank Valentini executive produced General Hospital: 60 Years of Stars and Storytelling, directed by Ashley Gorman and produced by ABC. Michelle Henry and Mary-Kelly Weir serve as co-executive producers.
