Bunk’d to End with Season 7 on Disney Channel in 2024
Bunk’d, Disney Channel’s longest-running live-action series, will conclude its run with Season 7.
With only 12 episodes of its 20-episode seventh season completed, the show’s production was suspended in May when the Writers Guild of America (WGA) went on strike against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) for a fair contract.
Deadline exclusively reported that Bunk’d‘s seventh and now final season has increased to a 22-episode order, with the final ten episodes set to premiere on Disney Channel in 2024. Production on the remaining episodes has since resumed.
“With a fantastic cast of characters and hilarious and heartful storylines, it’s no wonder Bunk’d has been one of Disney Channel’s longest-running and successful live-action series,” Ayo Davis, President, Disney Branded Television, said in a statement, per Deadline.
“We’d like to thank our talented cast, creative team, and crew for bringing tremendous joy and laughter to kids for seven incredible seasons,” Davis added.
Moving forward, Disney Channel plans to switch gears to a new audience. Deadline reports Ayo Davis’s creative team, including Charlie Andrews, EVP, Live Action and Unscripted, and kids and family entertainment executive Jenna Boyd, “is actively developing a slate of multi-cam comedies geared for kids 6-11.”
Created by Pamela Eells O’Connell and premiering in 2015, Bunk’d was a spinoff of the original Jessie series, which debuted in 2011. This cancellation news marks the end of the 12-year iconic run of the Jessie-verse saga.
The summer camp set series initially followed three of the children from the original series — Emma (Peyton List), Zuri (Skai Jackson), and Ravi (Karan Brar) — as they swapped New York City for Camp Kikiwaka, a rustic camp in Maine.
List, Jackson, and Brar left Bunk’d after Season 3, but summer camp counselor Lou Hockhauser (Miranda May) remained on the show.
According to TVLine, Bunk’d‘s cast for its final season includes Miranda May as Lou Hockhauser, Mallory James Mahoney as Destiny Baker, Israel Johnson as Noah Lambert, Trevor Tordjman as Parker Preston, Shiloh Verrico as Winnie, Alfred Lewis as Bill, and Luke Busey as Jake.
Bunk’d Season 7 premiered on Sunday, July 23, 2023, with its twelfth episode airing on December 1, 2023. The Disney Channel series will return with the second part of its final season in 2024.
