Beacon 23 Renewed for Season 2 at MGM+

MGM+ renewed the science-fiction mystery thriller based on the bestselling book by Hugh Howey for Season 2.
Beacon 23‘s eight-episode second season is expected to premiere in April 2024 on MGM+.
Created and executive produced by Zak Penn and produced by Boat Rocker, the series takes place in the farthest reaches of the Milky Way.
Its debut season followed Lena Headey’s Aster, a government agent, and Stephan James’s Halan, a stoic ex-military man, “whose fates became entangled after they found themselves trapped together inside one of many Beacons that served as a lighthouse for intergalactic travelers,” per the show’s synopsis.
Beacon 23 Season 1 Episodes 1 and 2, “Corbenic / Wreckers,” streamed on MGM+ in November 2023. The first season concluded with Beacon 23 Season 1 Episodes 7 and 8, “End Transmission / Adamantine,” on Sunday, December 17.
On the upcoming second season, “Beacon 23 is now little more than a prison with Aleph onboard, and The Artifact provides more questions than answers. Without a clear path forward, the inhabitants of Beacon 23 must rely on each other, but their conflicting agendas may get in the way,” per its synopsis.
Beacon 23 Season 2 will star Stephan James, Natasha Mumba, and Ellen Wong.
Glen Mazzara and Joy Blake are co-showrunners and executive producers on the second season.
