Elite to End with Season 8 on Netflix
The Spanish dramatic thriller series Elite is ending with its eighth season on Netflix.
The streaming service announced that the previously-renewed season will be its last ahead of Elite‘s Season 7 premiere on Friday, October 20.
TVLine has contacted Netflix for comment about the teen drama’s ending, which is slated to hit the streaming service in 2024.
Netflix announced Elite‘s Season 8 renewal in July 2023 but shared no information indicating it would be the mystery drama’s final season.
The renewal news detailed that the longest-running fictional series from Netflix in Spain would start production on Season 8 in August 2023.
It revealed that Daniel Barone, Ginesta Guindal, Jota Linares, and Elena Trapé would direct the episodes created by Carlos Montero and Jaime Vaca.
The streaming service also revealed that Elite‘s eighth season would welcome Ane Rot and Nuno Gallego to the show and the hallways of Las Encinas while welcoming back Mina el Hammani, who will reprise her role of Nadia.
The show will also welcome back another familiar face for its upcoming seventh season — Omar Ayuso as Omar, who appeared in Elite‘s first five seasons.
Elite Season 7 will find Omar living a new life at university but still unable to move on from the guilt he feels after Samuel’s death. So, Omar turns to therapy.
Netflix shares that the upcoming season “will tackle mental health and how most of us neglect it out of fear or ignorance.”
“Thanks to an internship, he decides to return to the school where everything happened to confront his demons face to face. Through Omar’s journey we will discover that the rest of the students are also silently battling their own hells,” per Elite‘s season description.
Cast members joining Ayuso in Season 7 include Mirela Balić as Chloe, Maribel Verdú as Carmen, Gleb Abrosimov as Eric, Leonardo Sbaraglia as Martín, Fernando Líndez as Joel, and Anitta in an undisclosed role.
Elite‘s penultimate season will also see the return of André Lamoglia as Iván, Valentina Zenere as Isadora, Ana Bokesa as Rocío, Álvaro de Juana as Dídac, Ander Puig as Nico, Nadia Al Saidi as Sonia, Álex Pastrana as Raúl, Carmen Arrufat as Sara, and more.
Elite premiered its eight-episode debut season on Netflix in 2018.
