Upload Season 3 Premiere Date Announced by Prime Video
Over a year later, Andy Allo is returning with Season 3 on Prime Video.
The eight-episode season of the sci-fi comedy series will premiere on Friday, October 20, with two episodes released on the streaming service every week.
From Greg Daniels, Upload is set in a technologically advanced future where, instead of dying, people are “uploaded” to a virtual reality afterlife that resembles the biggest and best resort. Robbie Amell stars as a computer programmer named Nathan, who dies and finds himself in the expensive afterlife of Lakeview.
Even though Upload‘s seven-episode second season sees Nathan and Nora finally get to be together and Nathan “downloads” into Freeyond, the season’s upcoming third season won’t be smooth sailing for the couple. After all, Upload Season 2 Episode 7, “Download,” posits the latter action has detrimental effects on Nathan.
So, Season 3 picks up with Nathan and Andy Allo’s Nora living out the early days of their relationship while they race to stop the mysterious conspiracy that threatens millions.
Upload‘s Season 3 synopsis reads as follows:
Can they shut down Freeyond, and finally have a real life together? Or is it just a matter of time until Nathan’s head explodes? Meanwhile, in Lakeview, a backup copy of Nathan has been activated and Ingrid’s not about to let this second chance at love slip away. Back in the real world, Aleesha rises through the ranks of Horizen by managing AI education, and falls into a new romantic relationship. And Luke, all alone in Lakeview, is forced to come up with the funds to pay for his stay in paradise, driving him to work in The Grey Zone.
Prime Video renewed the show for its third season in May 2022 — only months after its sophomore season debuted. “Upload has become a bonafide hit that continues to be one of the most watched comedy originals on Prime Video,” Vernon Sanders, head of global television, Amazon Studios, said at the time.
“The series continues to connect and provoke endless possibilities for the future of technology and humanity. With Greg’s distinct comedic take along with the dynamic creative team and talented actors, they’ve made a globally relevant series which we’re all incredibly proud to bring back another season for our customers.”
The comedy series stars Kevin Bigley as Luke, Allegra Edwards as Ingrid, Zainab Johnson as Aleesha, and Owen Daniels as A.I. Guy.
Upload‘s 10-episode debut season premiered in May 2020 on Prime Video. Greg Daniels also serves as an executive producer along with Howard Klein on Upload.
