Twisted Metal Featurette Released by Peacock Ahead of San Diego Comic-Con Premiere

Get a sneak peek at what to expect in the new featurette titled “Test Your Metal.” Peacock unveiled the new footage ahead of the show’s world premiere at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday, July 20, at 10 pm PT in Room 6DE.

“Test Your Metal” sees showrunner, executive producer, and writer Michael Jonathan Smith and stars Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz play 2001’s Twisted Metal: Black on the PlayStation 4 while discussing their experiences filming Twisted Metal.

The live-action comedy series — based on an original take by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick and written by Michael Jonathan Smith — is based on the classic PlayStation game series Twisted Metal.

Per its description, Twisted Metal follows “a motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland.” Mackie, who also executive produces, stars as John Doe.

“With the help of a badass axe-wielding car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.”

Beatriz, who stars as Quiet, discusses how she learned to drive stick in 15 minutes during the show’s production. The actress is also quite proud of her fight sequence, showcased in the video below.

In the new featurette, Mackie discusses his history with video games, as well as what he likes about John Doe. Meanwhile, Michael Jonathan Smith discusses the joys of giving Sweet Tooth more dimension on Twisted Metal.

Twisted Metal also stars Thomas Haden Church, Will Arnett, and Joe Seanoa. Special guest stars include Neve Campbell, Richard Cabral, Mike Mitchell, Tahj Vaughans, and Lou Beatty Jr.

All ten 30-minute episodes of Twisted Metal‘s debut season premiere exclusively on Peacock on Thursday, July 27. Kitao Sakurai directed multiple episodes of the show.
