Minx is back, and the team is ready for a new chapter.
Minx Season 2 Episode 1, “The Perils of Being a Wealthy Widow,” brings the band back together after the events of the Season 1 finale.

With the magazine’s success and Doug’s betrayal, it feels odd to see the team split apart, even if this time is necessary to see them come together again.
Minx, Meet Constance
One of the best ways that Minx can continue their story is to infuse some new blood in the form of a publisher, and they couldn’t have picked a better person for the job than Elizabeth Perkins
The introduction of Constance Papadopoulos feels made for Elizabeth Perkins and she’s clearly enjoying every moment she’s on screen. (Okay, maybe not getting accosted by Doug at the dog show.)

Selfishly, I am very excited to see what Perkins does with this role because it feels almost like an extension of where Celia Hodes could have been on Weeds. Except, this time she has money, prestige, and a past full of people who tried to kill her.
From the moment she appears on screen, I am engaged and I want to know more about her.
Reuniting the Minx Team
The other thing that this episode does really well, is demonstrate why Joyce and Doug need to be partners.
While Minx Season 1 Episode 10, “You Happened To Me,” delivers the hard truth that business partnerships are not always forever.
It’s a sad truth, but something that needed to be examined so that the audience could see what makes Joyce and Doug good partners.

Giving Joyce the space to go out and entertain these offers from big publishers was the perfect illustration of how indecisive she can be when it comes to making business decisions.
She has dreams of being a pioneering woman, but she isn’t going to get anywhere if she can’t decide who to work with, and Doug is the antidote to that.
Doug is the one who will steal a dog to get a meeting, and he’s the one who will sell his car to distribute the magazines himself. When it comes down to it, Doug will show up for Minx and do whatever it takes for his team.
Back and More United
The fact that the team has lost time in the publishing process is not insignificant. They are very clear that while they have ideas, they can’t act on any of them because there isn’t a magazine at the start of the episode.

After going through everything they have so far, to have them all together, with the addition of Constance, feels like the best possible ending. There’s a chance for the magazine to move forward and they are ready to continue to make magic with each of the team doing what they do best.
Stray Thoughts
Bambi and Shelly are cute. I know that there’s a lot of stake for Shelly, but seeing those two together on screen is an absolute joy.
Personally, I am really hoping Tina goes to business school. After Season 1, I think she deserves the chance to succeed and follow her dreams. It will make her a better partner than she already is.
Richie is such a voice of reason on this episode. Joyce clearly needs to hear that there wouldn’t be a magazine without money and that ideas can’t be held for a magazine they might not be able to hold.
