The Cleaning Lady Season 2 Episode 6 Review: Oasis
If nothing else, the obvious thing about The Cleaning Lady Season 2 Episode 6, “Oasis,” is that the women are in charge of this show.
Even when we come upon the most dramatic thing in the episode, which is wholly unnecessary yet somehow interesting, Thony saves the day.

I’m sure it’s humbling for a big strong man like Garrett to actually have to face up to his choices, but he doesn’t have much of a choice now.
The framing of always making Garrett someone to feel bad for is getting very old.
Garrett is all himself all the time — Maya even says it, but Thony doesn’t listen. Thony thinks there’s still something to be redeemed in Garrett as if he didn’t stage an ICE raid and stand back while it happened in other places.
Though it’s not clear whether or not they want it to be mentioned, I feel it must be said that I sincerely hope we’re not just going to let Garrett get away with murder just because he was “protecting” Thony and Maya.
While Cortes does not deserve to keep taking money from sick people, and he certainly doesn’t deserve to be alive and abusing women, that isn’t Garrett’s choice to make.

It’s interesting to take similar stories and place them back to back in a season, as Chris and Garrett must face these issues together but separately.
Chris is wracked with guilt, as any normal person would be, and after nearly killing himself one day, it’s not shocking that he’d want to confess his crimes to the police.
What is shocking, is that the one person to comfort him and convince him not to is a character we’ve only known for three episodes. He makes me wary, and I really hope we can trust him.
Nadia spends the entirety of “Oasis,” coming out of her shell and I couldn’t love it more.

Nadia finally, finally kicks Arman out and says they’re over. Girlboss! She explains as much but at the core, it’s just Nadia finally realizing that she deserves better than Arman, whatever else that may be.
No, I don’t mean Kamdar.
Arman spends this episode as he does many others: begging for someone’s forgiveness and claiming he shouldn’t have to.
There’s something so special about loving intricate characters, and it’s that you can defend them with your life and still be able to acknowledge when they’re dead wrong.
It’s also important that characters are layered enough that they have these types of flaws. This is something The Cleaning Lady is very good at.

Arman used Nadia, in more ways than one, for quite a while. It would be hard to not see that after spending even five minutes with them.
Now that she’s finally standing up for herself, though, suddenly she’s doing something wrong. Suddenly Nadia shouldn’t be wearing the ring she rightfully earned, suddenly Nadia is flirting a little too much.
Taking away the drugs and murder of it all, Arman is not a terrible guy, but wow, he is a terrible husband.
“Oasis” is a great episode for opening up a new chapter on The Cleaning Lady, but I can’t help but wonder if they’re doing too much and it will blow up in their faces.
