Ben heads back to the 80s on Quantum Leap Season 1 Episode 6, “What a Disaster.”
After saving the town of Salvation back in the 19th century on Quantum Leap Season 1 Episode 5, “Salvation or Bust,” Ben is making his third trip to the 80s. The 80s seems to be a popular time period for the new series as half of the episodes have already taken place during that decade.

Ben is going to be an expert on the 80s by the time the season is over.
This time Ben leaps to 1989 San Francisco during one of the city’s biggest natural disasters, the 1989 earthquake. Amongst the disarray of the earthquake’s damage and aftershocks, Ben must help a family dealing with their own turmoil.
Fans of the show Firefly also have something to be excited about as Kaylee herself, Jewel Staite, will guest star on the episode.
While Ben’s mission looks exciting, the big question going into “What a Disaster” is that huge cliffhanger at the end of “Salvation or Bust.”
At the end of that episode, Ben and Addison were confronted by another time traveler who tells Ben to stop following him. Who is this previously unknown player? Is he the reason Ben made his unsanctioned leap? Hopefully, we’ll get some answers on “What a Disaster.”

Episode description: Ben and Addison find themselves in San Francisco during the historic 1989 earthquake. As the city continues to crumble with aftershocks, Ben must try to mend a family in chaos. Jenn and Ian search for clues to an unsettling mystery.
