Preview — Alaska Daily Season 1 Episode 3: It’s Not Personal
Eileen, Roz, and Sylvie travel to Meade to confront a local police chief on Alaska Daily Season 1 Episode 3, “It’s Not Personal.”
Unsurprisingly, the local police chief they go to confront doesn’t give Eileen and company a warm welcome. Instead, they get more stonewalling and hostility from law enforcement
But, as the promo shows, Eileen is starting to become more and more personally invested in the case and makes an important move without telling Roz. Roz is understandably upset and threatens to dissolve their already delicate partnership.
There has been friction between Eileen and Roz from the beginning. Each of them has been slow to build trust with the other and this certainly won’t help.
It might also be the first time since joining the Alaska Daily staff that Eileen will have to reflect on the way her style alienates the people around her. Perhaps it is the beginning of some much-needed growth for our main character.
Elsewhere in the episode, Austin faces an ethical dilemma when he uncovers a story that could be an enormous scandal for a political candidate that the newspaper’s owner has endorsed.
They foreshadowed this sort of conflict of interest during Eileen’s lunch conversation with the paper’s owner on Alaska Daily Season 1 Episode 2, “A Place We Came Together.”
During that lunch, the owner asserted that as long as the facts were correct, he wouldn’t stand in the way of a story that went against his personal interests. On “It’s Not Personal,” we’ll see if he is true to his word.
Do you think Eileen will finally show a little remorse for how she treats her colleagues? Or, at the very least, a little humility? Do you think the paper owner’s words on “A Place We Came Together” will turn out just to be a lot of talk?

Episode description: Eileen, Roz, and Sylvie travel to Meade to learn more about a suspect in Gloria’s case and connect with the local police chief, which proves to be more challenging than expected. When Austin learns about a political candidate’s murky financial ties, Stanley must decide if they can publish with the newspaper’s owner having endorsed the candidate.
