After a traumatic near-death situation, recovery is the main focus for Cade on The Resident Season 5 Episode 22, “The Proof Is in the Pudding.”
Cade’s unfortunate run-in with the mafia has brought her absentee father, Ian, to town, which is bound to cause issues for everyone involved. But, on the other hand, his presence could provide further backstory for Cade, which is much-needed.
Meanwhile, the success of Devon’s clinical trial brings forth important decisions for him to make, and Billie has a hard time grappling with new emotions.

Episode description:
When a young boy comes into the hospital with a rare disease which leaves his bones incredibly fragile, Cade’s father, Ian (guest star Andrew McCarthy), scrubs in to assist in the surgery, leaving Cade all on her own in her recovery. With his clinical trial officially being declared a success, Devon has some huge decisions to make about the future of his career. Meanwhile, Billie struggles with some new feelings.
