‘Andor’ Teaser Trailer and Premiere Date Released by Lucasfilm
Cassian Andor’s fate is already known in the Star Wars Universe, but his story has many more chapters to explore on Lucasfilm’s series Andor.
Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2022 kicked off with plenty of announcements at Lucasfilm’s Studio Showcase, including Andor‘s premiere date and teaser trailer.
The upcoming Disney+ series will start streaming Wednesday, August 31, 2022, with a two-episode series premiere.
Created by Tony Gilroy, Andor takes place five years before the events of 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Diego Luna reprises his role as rebel spy Cassian Andor from the film.

Additionally, Genevieve O’Reilly reprises her role as Mon Mothma, previously seen in Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, the animated series Star Wars Rebels, and Rogue One. Mon Mothma is the former Republic senator who helped found the Rebel Alliance.
Alongside Luna and O’Reilly, Andor stars Stellan Skarsgård, Denise Gough, and Kyle Soller. Though, fans with a keen eye will spot other notable actors in the teaser trailer, like Fiona Shaw.
Andor joins the increasingly extensive roster of Star Wars shows on Disney+. It will be the fourth live-action series after The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
A recent Vanity Fair cover story centered on Star Wars‘ small-screen takeover with the apt tagline, “The Rebellion Will Be Televised.” Diego Luna spoke about Andor in that feature.

“It’s the journey of a migrant,” Luna said. “That feeling of having to move is behind this story, very profoundly and very strong. That shapes you as a person. It defines you in many ways, and what you are willing to do,” Luna added.
At Star Wars Celebration, Diego Luna described Cassian Andor as someone who will stand out from who we know him as in Rogue One: “You’re not going to recognize Cassian Andor in the beginning. I cannot wait for you to meet him!”
Andor has the opportunity to work backward and expand on the character who worked with Jyn Erso to steal the Death Star plans to give to the Rebel Alliance — the same plans that helped Luke Skywalker defeat the ship in 1977’s Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.
Of course, Andor has a specific timeframe to exist within since Andor meets his fate in the Battle of Scarif, but the Disney+ show will be (as of now) a two-season limited series.

Deadline reported that Andor‘s showrunner Tony Gilroy shared their first, already-shot season will contain 12 episodes, and they will begin production on the second season’s 12 episodes in November.
With a 24-episode run, Andor can dig into this character and this chapter of the Star Wars Universe in great detail. The first trailer for the series teases as much as it shows glimpses of Cassian Andor in action, the Empire, and much more — like people standing up.
If Lucasfilm plans on televising the rebellion with its live-action Star Wars series, then Andor is what a reckoning looks like, and it will be fantastic.
