Welcome to a new week and another round of What to Watch on TV for the week of February 13th! We’ll be sharing our picks for what to watch this week, from marathons to big guest spots, and significant episodes of TV to look forward to while stuck inside.

This week’s picks include a dramatic twist on Bel-Air, a look at Lincoln’s Dilemma, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’s Season 4 premiere, the 4400 season finale, and more.

Peacock’s doing a more dramatic take on the beloved 90s sitcom of the same name as Will finds himself in a wrong place, wrong time situation and ends up with his uncle, aunt, and cousins in Bel-Air. The first three episodes of Bel-Air debuts Sunday, February 13 on Peacock.

Series Description: Set in modern-day America, Peacock’s new one-hour drama series Bel-Air imagines the beloved sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air through a new, dramatic take on Will’s complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air. As these two worlds collide, Will reckons with the power of second chances while navigating the conflicts, emotions, and biases of a world far different from the only one he’s ever known.

4400 – Monday, February 14

The reimaging’s debut season is coming to a close, finding the 4400’s lives at risk in the aftermath of an attack. While everyone is trying do their part to secure their existence, the danger continues to loom over them all. 4400 airs Monday, February 14 at 9/8c on The CW.

Episode Description: Tensions rise as an attack is made on the Bois Blanc, putting everyone’s life in danger. Shanice (Brittany Adebumola) and Logan (Cory Jeacoma) do their best to keep Hayden (AMARR) safe, while Claudette (Jaye Ladymore) and Jharrell (Joseph David-Jones) try to reason with Manny (guest star Calvin Seabrooks). Meanwhile, Mildred (Autumn Best) still believes her sister can be saved and LaDonna (Khailah Johnson) takes to the streets in an effort to end the threat against the 4400. 

State of the Union – Monday, February 14

The Sundance relationship anthology series returns with a new focus on a new couple, played by Patricia Clarkson and Brandon Gleeson, as it covers the 10 minutes before their counseling sessions over 10 weeks. State of the Union debuts Wednesday, February 14 at 10/9c on SundanceTV.

Season Description: State of the Union will see the return of award-winning writer/director duo Nick Hornby (BrooklynAn Education) and Stephen Frears (The QueenA Very English Scandal) as they continue tocleverly explore relationships and the human experience. In this season, liberal campaigning Ellen (Clarkson) drags her traditional, self-made husband Scott (Gleeson) out of his comfort zone and into a hipster Connecticut coffee shop, where they have 10 minutes before their marriage counselling session to drink a coffee, gather their thoughts and argue about everything from Quakerism to pronouns. Each week, between the bickering, they begin to piece together what has gone wrong between them. As the weeks go by, they start to deconstruct their 30-year marriage. Past betrayals are aired, their sex life is re-examined, and their vulnerabilities are finally shared. By the end of 10 weeks of marital counselling, they’re not the same couple they used to be, but is making a change enough to save their marriage, or should they walk away?

Aftertaste – Monday, February 14

AcornTV’s latest acquisition is a story that follows a celebrity chef that finds himself trying to reinvent himself in the aftermath of a viral outburst. Aftertaste debuts Monday, February 14 on AcornTV.

Series Description: When his latest outburst goes viral, volatile celebrity chef Easton West (Erik Thomson) flees to his Australian hometown and tries to reinvent himself through an unlikely partnership with his 19-year-old pastry wunderkind niece (Natalie Abbott). This “sharp satire” (The Guardian) also stars Rachel Griffiths and Remy Hii. Aftertaste premieres on Acorn TV February 14.

Astrid & Lilly Save the World– Wednesday, February 16

This week’s monster has Astrid and Lilly chasing after a viral dance monster that is sure to offer plenty of meme-able moments. Astrid & Lilly Save the World airs Wednesday, February 16 at 10/9c on Syfy.

Episode Description: Astrid and Lilly feel excluded when everyone does a new viral dance, until they learn it’s a monster.

The Cuphead Show! – Friday, February 18

Cuphead is making the jump from video games to television series as it follows the misadventures of the retro animated character and his friends as they journey through their world. The Cuphead Show! premieres Friday, February 11 on Netflix.

Series Description:  THE CUPHEAD SHOW! is a character-driven comedy series following the unique misadventures of loveable, impulsive scamp Cuphead and his cautious but easily swayed brother Mugman. As the two scour their surreal homeworld of the Inkwell Isles in search of fun and adventure, they always have each other’s back. Unless there’s only one cookie left, in which case it’s every cup for himself.

Painting with John – Friday, February 18

The second season of the series finds new insights, paintings, and music from multi-hyphenate John Lurie, while introducing Cowboy Beckett. Painting with John returns Friday, February 18 at 11/10c on HBO.

Series Description: Part meditative tutorial, part fireside chat, each episode finds the artist ensconced at his worktable, honing his intricate watercolor techniques while reflecting on what he’s learned about life. Season two introduces Cowboy Beckett and combines stunning images of Lurie’s paintings, original music, and irreverent point-of-view on topics such as tapping into one’s childlike artistic side, his overall ambivalence toward fame, and more. The series reminds viewers to prioritize a little time every day for creativity and fun.

Severance – Friday, February 18

The term gets a whole new meaning with this new workplace mystery that follows a man who has found himself in the middle of a strange situation as he contemplates the “work-life balance.” Severance debuts Friday, February 18 on Apple TV+.

Series Description: Mark Scout (Adam Scott) leads a team at Lumon Industries, whose employees have undergone a severance procedure, which surgically divides their memories between their work and personal lives. This daring experiment in “work-life balance” is called into question as Mark finds himself at the center of an unraveling mystery that will force him to confront the true nature of his work… and of himself.

The Legend of Vox Machina – Friday, February 18

The last of the Briarwood arc is upon us . The Legend of Vox Machina streams its final three episodes of the season Friday, February 18 on Prime Video.

Series Description: Based on the beloved characters and adventures of Critical Role’s first livestreamed tabletop role-playing game (RPG) campaign, The Legend of Vox Machina is an animated fantasy-adventure series for adults that follows Vox Machina, a band of misfits with a fondness for boozing and brawling. In a desperate attempt to pay off their mounting bar tab, these unlikely heroes end up on a quest to save the realm of Exandria from dark magical forces. From a sinister necromancer to a powerful curse, the group confronts a variety of obstacles that not only test their skills, but also the strength of their bond.

After a long wait, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel returns for Season 4 this Friday, February 18th. In a bit of switch, this season, rather than releasing the entire season at once, Prime Video will release two episodes each Friday.

Season 4 Description: It’s 1960 and change is in the air. Looking to hone her act, Midge finds a gig with total creative freedom. But her commitment to her craft—and the places it takes her—creates a rift between her and the family and friends around her.

Lincoln’s Dilemma – Friday, February 18

Apple’s latest documentary acquisition offers new insights into one of the most popular Presidents of the United States as he navigated a tumultuous time in this country while also reflecting on certain similarities in today’s current events. Lincoln’s Dilemma debuts Friday, February 18 on Apple TV+.

Documentary Description: “Lincoln’s Dilemma,” a four-part documentary series, is a fresh exploration of President Lincoln and the complex journey to end slavery. Narrated by Jeffrey Wright and featuring the voices of Bill Camp as Abraham Lincoln and Leslie Odom Jr. as Frederick Douglass, the series is a 21st century examination of a complicated man and the people and events that shaped his evolving stance on slavery.
