Shadow and Bone Cast Welcomes New Characters Into the Fold
Thank the Saints! Shadow and Bone has officially returned to Budapest to begin production on Season 2.
With this milestone, Netflix announced that the Grishaverse will be expanding to welcome four new characters from Leigh Bardugo’s hit fantasy book series.
These new additions to the cast include Anna Leong Brophy (Back) as Tamar Kir-Bataar, Lewis Tan (Mortal Kombat) as Tolya Yul-Bataar, Patrick Gibson (The OA) as Nikolai Lantsov, and Jack Wolfe (The Witcher) as Wylan Hendriks.

Fans have long-awaited news on who would play infamous pirate Nikolai, a prominent player in Alina’s power struggle with The Darkling. His arrival marks an exciting turning point for the series.
Wylan also generated tremendous buzz in anticipation of his casting, as the gifted artist will play a huge role in the Six of Crows adaptation and Jesper’s character arc.
Rounding out this fleet of misfits is Tamar Kir-Bataar. This Heartrender will become a close confidant to Alina, along with her twin brother and fellow Heartrender, Tolya Yul-Bataar.
With such a skilled cast of characters at its disposal, Shadow and Bone is eager to showcase its core cast as well.
In addition to these latest recruits, Danielle Galligan’s Nina, Daisy Head’s Genya, and Calahan Skogman’s Matthias are now officially advancing to series regulars.

Daegan Fryklind has been promoted to co-showrunner of the series with returning showrunner Eric Heisserer.
The roster of directors for Season 2 will feature multiple women in the industry, with Bola Ogun, Laura Belsey, Karen Gaviola, and Mairzee Almas all set to helm episodes for the upcoming season. Author Bardugo will also return as an executive producer on the project.
With Alina’s quest to locate the other amplifiers in full swing and all six crows finally accounted for, Season 2 of Shadow and Bone is looking to take the Grishaverse to the next level with the characters we know and love.
So grab your support goat tight and prepare to return to the fold!
