On Good Sam Season 1 Episode 3, “Butt of the Joke,” Sendhil Ramamurthy joins the cast as therapist Asher Payne — Vivian’s new husband.

Griff and Vivian briefly discuss Asher on Good Sam Season 1 Episode 1, “Pilot.” As it turns out, we didn’t have to wait too terribly long to meet him.

Sendhil Ramamurthy is excellent in quite literally every role he plays, from Heroes to New Amsterdam and Never Have I Ever. He will surely be just as great on this show.

Meanwhile, Griff continues to set Sam up for failure as chief of surgery, but Sam’s confidence is stronger than he knows. Alternatively, Dr. Shah’s confidence may waver after complications during surgery.

Episode description: When Dr. Sam Griffith refuses to concede her role as chief, her father Griff orchestrates a costly surprise. Also, Sam’s mother, hospital administrator Vivian, turns to her new spouse, therapist Asher Pyne (Sendhil Ramamurthy), for help navigating the battle between her daughter and ex-husband.
