Legacies: Top Moments from “Someplace Far Away From All This Violence” (Season 4 Episode 7)

Legacies, Reviews

Hope makes a pitstop at the school for supplies on Legacies Season 4 Episode 7, “Someplace Far Away From All This Violence.”

In her quest for more weapons, Hope makes the school her quick stop on her trip to defeating the Triad. Unfortunately, she wasn’t prepared for the weapon stash to be elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Kaleb and Jed do a little bonding while hunting down an Argus, and Lizzie comes to terms with what she must do.

Here are my top moments from Legacies Season 4 Episode 7, “Someplace Far Away From All This Violence.”

Dark Josie’s Return
Legacies Season 4 Episode 7

There have been multiple hints at Dark Josie making her appearance again, and she doesn’t disappoint when the time comes. There may not be an epic showdown between her and Hope, but her appearance is one of the top moments of the episode.

While Dark Josie fails in flipping Hope’s humanity switch, she successfully proves that Hope is not fearless. The façade she’s putting on isn’t fooling the ones closest to her; she’s running from her humanity and the pain from Landon’s death.

The fear of facing her own actions pushes Hope to avoid flipping the switch back. Yes, her hatred for the Triad and wanting their demise is fun, but it’s a distraction from the real issue at hand.

My only wish for this interaction is for it to have been longer and more action. Hope has been looking for a fight since she flipped the switch, and Dark Josie is the only worthy match since.

It looks like Josie might be able to control that side of her more easily now, so hopefully, we see that come into play again in the future.

Jed and Kaleb’s Hunting Trip
Legacies Season 4 Episode 7

While Kaleb may not want Jed to accompany him on his hunt, it’s the best thing for him. Kaleb is dealing with the same feelings most newborn supernaturals deal with as they come to terms with their newfound reality. But, this is different; this time, it’s Kaleb’s fault, and he has nobody else to blame, which is why he allows it to eat him alive.

Jed reminds him that he has to forgive himself before anyone else’s forgiveness means anything. It’s good advice in this particular situation, and it’s excellent advice in the general sense as well. If you cannot be okay with your actions and be at peace with yourself, no outside approval or forgiveness will mean anything in the long run.

Kaleb wants to fight it and avoid the fact that he is now part dragon, but eventually, he’ll see the brighter side of the situation. He came face to face with the Argus, got bit and had nothing happen because of his dragon skin, and then incinerated it.

Somewhere, deep down, the comic fan in Kaleb is excited about all the new possibilities his abilities will bring.

Lizzie’s Revelation
Legacies Season 4 Episode 7
Legacies — “Someplace Far Away From All This Violence” — Pictured: Jenny Boyd as Lizzie Saltzman

It’s no surprise that to Lizzie, the answer for all of her issues is Hope’s demise. They’ve been back and forth with their friendship for a bit of time, leaning into areas where they’re great with one another and other times where they can’t be in each other’s presence.

And, while that may be the case for a lot of friendships, Alaric’s trauma-induced coma is what changes the situation. It doesn’t matter that Hope wasn’t herself at the time of the incident because there’s always been a lingering beef between the two.

Essentially, the therapy box solidifies Lizzie’s thought that destroying Hope will make everything better. She thinks that her actions are justified because of Hope’s downward spiral.

Lizzie is brilliant, so it won’t be long before she figures out about the tree, but I hope she doesn’t. Lizzie fails to think about how she will feel after she completes her mission.

While there might be a glimpse of satisfaction in getting rid of the tribrid, it won’t overshadow the guilt later on in life. It’s going to change how her peers see her, and eventually, it’s going to change how she sees herself.

Cleo makes the right choice by not sharing the truth about the tree, but using the illusion stone around Ethan and Finch is utterly brainless. Finch doesn’t indicate that she hears precisely what Cleo is talking about, but it’s a given with her wolf hearing.

With Josie stuck in the therapy box, there’s nobody else for Finch to go to, so naturally, Lizzie will be the one she reaches out to. Either her or Ethan.

If Lizzie doesn’t figure out the truth about the tree herself, Finch will be the one to expose the secret.

Other Thoughts:

  • Jed and Wade having more screen time this season makes me so happy. We almost get a glimpse into Jed’s past in tonight’s episode, and it needs to be brought up again before the end of the season. They both deserve some character progression.
  • While MG’s idea for a Salvatore Idol is cute, it was never going to work.
  • We’ve now seen Dark Josie and Hope with no humanity, so naturally, an evil side to Lizzie is next on the list of things to happen. And honestly, I’d be here for it. Lizzie would own the villain role harder than Alyssa and maybe even Josie.
  • The Triad leader’s identity is hard to pinpoint via voice. The first call between them and Hope sounded suspiciously like Emma, but this time it didn’t. I’m intrigued at the thought that Emma could be behind Triad and the attempt at Hope’s demise. If she is, could Dorian be working with her as well?

Favorite Quotes:

  • “There’s a hole in the heart of this place, a void where you used to be. If seeing that doesn’t make you feel anything, there’s nothing I could say that’d matter. If you’re really not coming back, so be it. I’ll just have to fill that void myself.” – MG.
  • “You. Do your little blinky thing and get my girlfriend out of here. The big kids need a chat.” – Dark Josie.
  • “Screw that, man. It’s Dracarys time.” – Jed.
  • “If people are going to start to sing, I’m gonna turn this into Survivor.” – Hope.
