On Day of the Dead Season 1 Episode 1, “The Thing in the Hole,” things get bloody for the town of Mawinhaken.
Day of the Dead follows six strangers as they try to survive the first twenty-four hours during a zombie invasion. The show is based on the 1985 film of the same name by George A. Romero.
Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas serve as showrunners and writers on the show. Keenan Tracey stars as Cam McDermott, a high school senior and son of a local police detective. Daniel Doheny stars as Luke Bowman, the son of the town mayor, Paula Bowman. Miranda Frigon will star as Paula Bowman.
Natalie Malaika stars as Lauren Howell, a sarcastic assistant mortician at the local mortuary, and Morgan Holmstrom will star as Sarah Blackwood. Blackwood is former Special Forces now working on a fracking crew outside of town. Her discovery of a mysterious body plunges her into the middle of a zombie invasion.
Last but not least, Kristy Dawn Dinsmore stars as Amy, a life coach, and daughter of the town doctor. When the dead start to rise, she begins a transformation as she fights for survival.

Episode description: A normal day for the town of Mawinhaken takes a horrifying turn when the dead begin to rise. Cam and Lauren make a shocking discovery at the cemetery. Meanwhile, McDermott investigates a mystery under the Cleargenix fracking operation.
