Preview — 9-1-1 Season 5 Episode 1: Panic
One of the big cliffhangers from last season with 9-1-1 was the status of Bobby and Athena’s marriage. When the show returns for Season 5, it looks like everything else going on around them will prevent viewers from learning anything more about whether or not they are okay. We need them to be okay, they are our solid force within this show.
With 9-1-1 Season 5 Episode 1, “Panic,” the whole of LA falls into chaos as hackers create a problem within the emergency response system that aligns all the first responders’ jobs. Threats start popping up that don’t actually exist and problems ensue with air-traffic control and a medevac helicopter.
Everyone is hitting the ground running to restore order within their favorite city, meanwhile Maddie’s suffering is getting worse — not better. She continues to struggle deeply with her postpartum depression — to the point where we worry she isn’t going to ever be “Maddie” again.
Athena isn’t out of the woods either as she faces down her attacker from the serial rapist case. This shows that she hasn’t truly moved forward like she wants everyone to believe. There is strength in vulnerability and lets hope the show highlights that.
