Emily VanCamp Exiting ‘The Resident’ After Four Seasons
Fans of hospital drama The Resident should start preparing themselves now, because more change is coming to Chastain Park. According to Deadline, Emily VanCamp, who stars as Nicolette (Nic) Nevin is leaving the FOX series.
The news comes shortly after a surprise announcement that VanCamp and husband and former Revenge co-star Josh Bowman recently welcomed their new baby, Iris, into the world. VanCamp’s character was also pregnant during the most recent season of the series, giving birth to a daughter after a difficult pregnancy that already gave viewers a bit of a scare.

Deadline reports that VanCamp had asked to be released from the show at the end of Season 4, though there was “an effort” to bring her back in some capacity for Season 5. That effort didn’t pan out. However, according to Variety, there could still be hope for that to happen somehow.
The first promo for The Resident Season 5 certainly looks ominous in regard to Nic.
“If you thought last season changed everything, just wait,” the video promises. It also shows law enforcement showing up to give Nic’s husband Conrad (Matt Czuchry) what looks to be alarming news.

In addition to The Resident, Emily VanCamp is well-known for her roles on Revenge and in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, most recently on Falcon and the Winter Soldier. VanCamp’s exit from the Fox drama series follows that of Shaunette Renée Wilson, who played Mina Okafor.
In addition to VanCamp and Czuchry, The Resident also stars Bruce Greenwood, Manish Dayal, Jessica Lucas, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Jane Leeves, and Morris Chestnut.
