Ted Lasso’s Hannah Waddingham Reacts to Winning Critics Choice Award [Video]
The quickly beloved comedy series Ted Lasso provided some much-needed comfort to viewers in the year 2020, something that Hannah Waddingham says is a “privilege.”
After winning the Critics Choice Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Rebecca on Ted Lasso, Waddingham spoke with reporters during a virtual winners press room conference about her work on the series.

Waddingham was still soaking it all in when she spoke with reporters, calling the experience of winning the award “ridiculously surreal.”
The role of Rebecca is one she’s thoroughly enjoyed playing. “They just gave me a honey of a role to go and play with, and I’d be insane if I didn’t grab it with both hands,” Waddingham said.

Waddingham also spoke to the fact that Ted Lasso offered comfort to so many people, and what it feels like to be a part of that kind of project.
“I think we’re all so acutely aware what a privilege it’s been to be in something that has made people feel better in a really horrific time. And that’s what we all get from it, all of the time. Every single one of us gets messages just saying, ‘thank you,’ and it’s not just thank you for the funny. It’s thank you for — I feel from them that it’s thank you for making them feel included and making their sadness in this time or their loneliness relevant,” Waddingham said.
“I think that’s what struck us all so much. You know, we had no idea this was going to be the massive hug that everyone needed.”
