Superstore Review: Depositions (Season 6 Episode 10)
Jealous Dina is my favorite thing on Superstore Season 6 Episode 10, “Depositions.”
The entire episode is dynamo and packed with surprisingly tender beats. But, the long-awaited realization for Dina that she like-likes Garrett is what makes the episode an easy five-star.
And now we’re in the glorious, juicy, fabulous trope of a requited romance where both people think the other one is just chill with no real feelings.
I. Am. So. Happy.
Jonah and Amy have always been a central feature of the show that other couples and friendships rotate around. In the Season 5 post-Amy adjustment, there isn’t a replacement couple or pair.

Dina and Garrett aren’t the new Jonah and Amy. And that is a good thing.
They are both unexpectedly loving people. They are both super quirky and self-possessed.
Dina, of course, goes full hog when she’s jealous. Her research skills are put to use and the air of “it’s all part of the job,” makes her intense jealousy so very Dina.
This writers room knows these characters and it shows.
Dina and Garrett are the best ship on Superstore. They have always been, we just didn’t know it until now.

What has replaced the lead is an ensemble of more present characters. Cheyenne supporting Dina through her feelings is both funny and sweet.
Sandra and Mateo team up in a cute high jinks. Like the other parts of the episode, all of the conflicts end up just really, really cute.
Superstore is best when it leans into the charm and real care between these zany folks.
The team doesn’t even take it too harshly that one of them is causing all this ruckus. They take it in stride and that allows the hilarious antics to take place.
On this episode, even Carol was more smooshy than sharp. Her barbs about being on her yacht were mean-spirited, but didn’t sting like some past meanness.

Glen takes a lot of hits on the episode, and it is certainly true that Glen struggles in so many areas of competence.
But, it’s a nice reminder that these characters can still surprise us that Glen has pretty much no problem giving testimony to the lawyers during the deposition, whereas Jonah is a straight-up mess.
Sure, he uses a detailed recounting of a baby chick calendar to do it, but he can explain how he does his job.
The construct of everyone having to testify to save Glen’s butt is brilliant. It is a conduit to a great many jokes. Cheyenne’s, “he wears clothes,” is particularly funny.
Jonah having a love interest is a nice set up to the finale. The lawyer is just Jonah’s type. And he’s ready to start getting over Amy.

But, this is the final season of Superstore. So, there is no way that Amy isn’t end game.
Superstore must have the courage to give us the happy ending that actual mega-stores could never deliver.
