The Pearsons are back from hiatus, ready to dive headfirst into all the trauma and baby drama that awaits them.
This Is Us Season 5 Episode 7, “There,” sets up for Kate’s surrogate to go into labor. Unbenounced to Kevin, who thinks babies will come when you want them to, Madison also goes into labor and has to break the news to him over the phone.
Kevin instantly regrets his decision to leave the mother of his children and in sheer panic, decides to drive back to her as fast as he can. Naturally, everything goes wrong and now Kevin’s life could be hanging in the balance.
But it’s not all life or death. Jack Pearson will be returning to explore a football storyline with young Kevin that was set up earlier in the season and remind us of the claiming effects Jack’s presence can have in stressful situations such as these.
And it looks like we’ll be getting more backstory from Jack as he explores a similar time in his life with his father and the game of baseball.
Cleary, This Is Us wants to teach Kevin an important lesson about priorities as a new parent, but let’s hope they don’t take this one too far.
