First Look at Marvel’s ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’
Disney’s Investor Day 2020 had a slew of announcements. Marvel fans were treated to the first look at The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, along with an official release date!
Confirmed as in-production in spring 2019, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was set to be one of the first Marvel series to bow on Disney+. It was originally expected sometime in 2020. Due to production halts, the series was pushed and is now officially premiering on March 19, 2021.
As characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, both Falcon and the Winter Soldier have been the most intertwined with the story of Captain America. At the end of Avengers: Endgame, we — Spoiler Alert! — see Chris Evans’s Captain go back in time and choose to live out his life with his lost love, Agent Peggy Carter.
Steve Rogers, no longer able to continue his super-soldier duties (he’s like an old man when he returns), passes the torch, or shield really, to longtime pal Sam Wilson aka Falcon. We see Sam as he begins to settle into his new role and the notoriety that comes with it.
Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier is ever the loyal companion. And dare I say a reluctant friendship seems to be blooming between the two superheroes.
Some other familiar faces from the MCU are poised to appear in Sam and Bucky’s adventures. I for one, can’t wait to see what shenanigans these two are up to.
