Preview — The Right Stuff Season 1 Episodes 1 and 2: Sierra Hotel / Goodies
It’s almost time for The Right Stuff Series premiere!
Based on the non-fiction novel of the same name by Tom Wolfe, The Right Stuff is an account of the early days of the U.S. space program and the formation of the Mercury Seven, America’s first astronauts. The Mercury Seven become celebrities before having even set foot in space.
The series stars Patrick J. Adams as Major John Glenn, Jake McDorman as Lieutenant Commander Alan Shepard, and Colin O’Donoghue as Lieutenant Gordon Cooper, among others.
The Right Stuff is kicking off with a two-episode premiere on October 9, followed by a new episode every Friday. In total, Season 1 will consist of 8 episodes.

The Right Stuff Season 1 Episode 1, “Sierra Hotel,” Episode Description: It’s 1959 and Russia is winning the space race. In order to compete, The United States forms NASA and chooses to recruit the nations best test pilots to form what will become the Mercury Astronauts. Among these test pilots are the golden boy John Glenn, the reckless Alan Shepard, and Gordo Cooper, whose broken marriage could cost him a place at the program.
The Right Stuff Season 1 Episode 2, “Goodies,” Episode Description: The press descends upon the domestic lives of the astronauts. Shepard and Gordo wilt under the limelight while Glenn thrives. Glenn secures a deal with Life Magazine that grants exclusive access to all seven astronauts in return for life-altering compensation. By the time the astronauts arrive in Florida to begin work, even Shepard has come to understand the power they now hold.
