The Baker and The Beauty Review: Get Carried Away (Season 1 Episode 3)
A trip to Puerto Rico has Daniel and Noa getting closer, new potential career opportunities popping up, and a big hurdle heading their way on another fun and sweet The Baker and The Beauty Season 1 Episode 3, “Don’t Get Carried Away.”
The trip to Puerto Rico offers some more insight into Noa’s life, her values, and goal, as Daniel’s presence brings a sense of fun and adventure into her business trip.
The trip also offers a broader look at the beauty that is Puerto Rico. From the people to the food to the culture and the music, “Don’t Get Carried Away” is a beautiful showcase of just a fraction of what the island has to offer.

I love the spotlight that the culinary aspects beyond pastries during the hour and how Noa and Daniel’s introduction to a local chef from Piñones leads to a fun resolution when the water main break at the original gala venue.
Daniel and Colin formally meet, and it does not disappoint. Seeing Daniel step up to Colin as he passive-aggressively tries to bring Daniel down is fantastic, especially with his parting words to Colin.
Overall, the Puerto Rico story does a solid job strengthening Daniel and Noa’s bond, heating things up for the pair, while also highlighting the backdrop The Baker and The Beauty get to film in.

Meanwhile, back in Miami, Vanessa continues her mission to get the Garcias on her side as she offers Mateo a shot at a gig that can open doors.
With every episode, Mateo continues to shine brightly and is slowly becoming my favorite Garcia.
Vanessa: He’s Degrassi era now. But he’s about to blow up.
Seeing him and Vanessa work together, trying to get him the Bar Mitzvah job is fun and offers a hint of maybe a different kind of dynamic that could be a terrific addition to the story.
I just wonder if we will see that gradual change in motivation in Vanessa as the season goes on.
Natalie and Mateo’s sibling moment is so lovely and heartwarming. Despite Natalie’s freak out and Mateo’s general tendency to be “out there,” most of the time, these moments reserved for his sister is a lovely character moment that shows her willingness to be more open.

It’s the small moments between Natalie and Mateo that add another level to the Garcia family’s story.
Elsewhere, Rafael’s got reservations about Daniel’s choices and the potential heartbreak headed his son’s way.
Rafael: What happens when he falls to Earth?
With Rafael’s concerns closing out the hour before Daniel and Noa take the next step, it becomes a valid question about what their relationship moving forward is going to look like.
Though it’s been Lewis who has served as that small dose of reality, it’s interesting that Rafael is the one on Daniel’s side that is asking it. He knows his son and what he’s able to withstand.
With those paparazzi shots of the pair leading into Noa’s suite bound to spread everywhere, will Daniel be able to handle all that comes with Noa’s lifestyle?
Random Thoughts
- Piper’s supportive presence by Daniel, while they are out in Puerto Rico, is sweet. It’s nice to know he has someone aside from Noa on his side. Though it’s hard to say if Lewis isn’t, he’s just concerned about what it will do to Noa’s image and brand.
- I wonder what happens to Noa’s shot with Melanie Caan now that she’s told Colin she’s turning down the job. Is this the kind of story that will continue through the season?
- Do you think Vanessa is right, in a sense, about her concerns about Daniel’s relationship with Noa?
