Preview — One Day at a Time Season 4 Episode 3: Boundaries
Things are about to get awkward on One Day at a Time Season 4 Episode 3, “Boundaries.”
It’s pretty much a guarantee that a parent talking to their kids about sex is going to feel at least a little awkward but being prompted by your teenage son catching you in a compromising position kicks the awkward quotient up a notch. That’s exactly the situation Penny finds herself in on “Boundaries.”
Still, if there is any show that can lean into that discomfort to come up with a story that is at once relatable and poignant while still always sharply funny, it’s One Day at a Time. We’ve seen the series do this before on One Day at a Time Season 3 Episode, “The First Time,” when they tackled Elena’s first time with Syd.
“The First Time” is a pretty high bar to live up to, but One Day At A Time is at its best when it’s talking about things that feel uncomfortable or make us squirm a bit. We may not get another “The First Time,” but we can still expect a smart, honest, and of course funny episode centered on Alex to follow up the stellar one centered on Elena.

Episode description: After Alex catches Penelope in a compromising position, Penelope is motivated to talk to Alex about healthy human sexuality, while defending herself against Lydia’s old-school judgment.
