A Million Little Things Review: Daisy (Season 2 Episode 13)

A Million Little Things, Reviews

There are better titles, but overall A Million Little Things Season 2 Episode 13, “daisy,” is closer to form than it has been since the midseason premiere. Some of the conflicts and lessons are more contrived than others, but it is fiction after all. It’s a rare treat for viewers when struggles in the script are invisible.

The first sign of a well-crafted hour is that no storyline is a better place to start than any other. Gary and Maggie would probably win a coin toss, so let’s honor that.

Their relationship had such strong roots in fun and friendship, and speaking of finding roots again it’s good to see them slowly finding theirs. Eric’s secret on A Million Little Things Season 2 Episode 12, “guilty,” and his presence in Maggie’s life is so inconsequential now, it’s easy to forget why they even broke up.

They make a great team. That’s clear from the wonderful scene where they help their friend rally after her breakdown and break the heck out of that pill container piñata. Though is it really a piñata without candy?

Gary’s daydream about confessing his love to Maggie is an example of how A Million Little Things unnecessarily tricks viewers. The tension in the elevator is all the scene needs. The daydream device is cheap, especially in the middle of an episode.

The mistake is forgiven though because Rome and Regina are adopting Eve’s baby. They’ve deserved happiness for so long it’s impossible not to be excited for them. But there is a long road ahead of them before they become parents, regardless of how far along Eve is.

Regina’s not dumb to be skeptical. It’s human nature to put walls up when you really want something. Hope isn’t easy. It takes so much courage.

Eve is putting more faith in Rome and Regina than they are in her. However, she might need their help to save her life and her baby’s.

There are still far too few stories on TV about women deciding not to have children, period. The end. But Regina’s change of heart was well done. If she’s going to mother a child, I’m happy it’s for a woman who is smart enough to do the research to save her baby and save her own life, too.

Eve, the baby, and the Howards better get so much happiness at the end of this.

Delilah and Sophie are more frustrating, but mother/daughter relationships are tough. We need to encourage them to succeed, because when they fail true damage is done.

So, even though it’s the most contrived plotline, it’s great to see them beginning to heal. Sophie is guilty of ascribing her late father sainthood, and that’s just not healthy.

Now that she’s grown up and will probably move back in, maybe Danny will be back. He is missed and that whole family needs to heal together.

A Million Little Thoughts

  • I wish Delilah’s dad’s story weren’t so sporadic. I had forgotten his illness and it seems to have progressed so much.
  • Theo needs so much therapy. It’s such good news he’s going to continue.
  • The origin story of Delilah’s middle name is unnecessary. It only really serves the title. “Fennel sausage,” “eve,” or “food fight” work so much better.
