Legacies Review: Screw Endgame (Season 2 Episode 5)
Hope and Lizzie are transported to a videogame style version of Mystic Falls, Landon and Josie heat things up in their relationship, and the headmasters’ secret identity is revealed on Legacies Season 2 Episode 5, “Screw Endgame.”
“Screw Endgame” is a magnificent episode revolving around the love and admiration Hope and Lizzie have for one other without directly stating the fact.
It’s a refreshing sight to see them bond because it’s not something that we get to witness every day and out of everyone to remember Hope, Lizzie is the last person I’m sure Hope thought would care. But, Lizzie surprises her with her attitude.
Lizzie is so upset with Hope in the beginning not because she’s truly mad at her, but because deep down she’s hurt that Hope would just disappear without a word and allow them to not even know who she is. Especially now that she’s grown so used to Hope, they’ve gone from frenemies to friends and it would hurt to think that a friend would just leave and never say a word.

Hope thinks that her destiny is to continue to be forgotten over and over again to take care of malivore and that she’s better off not being in people’s lives, but she couldn’t be more wrong. Everyone that she’s close to has had some part of them disappear and they’ve been trying to figure out what’s missing.
I wonder how many people would end up remembering Hope if she just opens up and tells everyone who she is. It’s obvious that Josie can break the spell and with help, she could possibly reveal Hope to everyone at the school. However, I bet that’s the last thing that the headmaster would want.
It makes complete sense that the headmaster is Clarke in disguise, but it doesn’t change the fact that I yelled at my screen as the reveal happened. Everything clicks now that we know the truth because we know that he’s the one returning monsters to malivore, which also explains how he ate the last monster in earlier episodes.

Clarke’s endgame has to involve Hope and not letting anyone remember who she is. I think that’s the reason why he’s so adamant to get Josie to do black magic. He may be training Josie to fight Hope in the end, without her even knowing it.
Speaking of Josie, I’ve mentioned time and time again how cute I think she and Landon are together, but I’m glad that she finds the love song he wrote for Hope because if she had found it afterward she would’ve been in a downward spiral.
At least now she’s avoided a mistake and realizes it, but there’s a bitterness to her realization because her feelings are broken now that she knows Landon thinks about Hope like that.
The conversation between Josie and Alaric goes a lot smoother than I thought it would, but even if it had turned out messy it’s one that needed to be had. Granted, Alaric just found out about the vote, but if he had kept his mouth shut it would have eaten him alive to think that everyone but Kaleb kicked him out.

What Josie says is true, he’s lived his whole life around protecting her and Lizzie but it’s time for him to have a life of his own. Alaric should take time to settle down and see where things could go with the deputy, after he defeats the headmaster of course. With Clarke on the loose, I fear that Alaric is the only one who could figure it out, besides Hope.
This season continues to keep its pace of stellar episodes going, with no stopping in sight.
Other Thoughts:
- Raf and Hope would be a cute couple, I’m not going to lie. Maybe now is the time for her to try and move on from Landon, while he has no idea who she is and can’t constantly be on her to think about him.
- Now that Sebastian is loose with the help of Wade, MG and Kaleb should be prepared for more trouble coming their way. There’s no way he won’t be upset at them for not freeing him.
- I’m beyond happy that Kaleb finally sits MG down and tells him to stop the unnecessary chasing of Lizzie. It’s a bit much.
- Josie’s dress is absolutely phenomenal and she is stunning as ever.
