Batwoman Review: Tell Me The Truth (Season 1 Episode 7)
There’s a big focus on Sophie on Batwoman Season 1 Episode 7, “Tell Me The Truth.” So far, the majority of what we’ve seen of Sophie has been tied to her relationship with Kate, and while this episode does heavily focus on that aspect, we do also learn a little bit more about why she felt she had to sign those forms.
This more Sophie-centric hour does help make her a bit more likable, especially the scene where she tells off the guy at the academy when he attempted to take away Kate’s medal.
However, there’s still a ways to go.

We need to spend time with Sophie outside of her relationship with Kate. It would help us get to know and love her a bit more, and it could even make her and Kate a bit more shippable (I currently don’t really ship them).
All we’ve mainly seen is the angst between them. Let’s give them some slightly happier storylines, shall we?
Sophie’s relationship with Jake is interesting, and her time with Mary on Batwoman Season 1 Episode 3, “Down Down Down,” was a lot of fun. Give her more scenes with either of them.
Luke: Oh so you two know each other know each other.
Sophie does not need to exist solely in Kate’s orbit (or her husband’s), so give her some different storylines and make us fall in love with her.
I think one of the main takeaways here is that Mary makes everything better.
The end of the hour seems to suggest that she will be spending a lot more time with Kate by helping out with Kate’s potentially now legitimate real estate business. We desperately need more Kate and Mary scenes, so I’m all for this.

Mary has been the main one to mention how much her relationship with Kate means to her. Kate’s not exactly a share your feelings type of person, but it would be sweet to see her rave about her step-sister as well.
Her mentioning Mary at the restaurant is about all we’ve gotten in terms of Kate talking about Mary. You can tell Kate trusts Mary from the fact that she has in dropped off various people at Mary’s clinic (as Batwoman), but it would still be great to see more of Kate’s views on that relationship.
When Kate, in the still terrible voiceover, talks about letting people in, my mind immediately goes to Kate telling Mary the Batwoman secret.

Mary would be the perfect first person to tell, and I really want to know what her reaction would be. Who do you think Kate should let in on the Batwoman secret first?
Stray Thoughts
- Anyone else catch that ARGUS name drop?
- Mouse’s ability to mimic other people is absolutely terrifying.
- Is the real Jacob Kane out looking for Beth’s kidnapper?
- Please tell me we’ll see Julia again (like soon).
