Legacies Review: This Year Will Be Different (Season 2 Episode 2)
Hope and Alaric team up once again to fight a troll, Lizzie encounters a new face at the old mill, and Josie’s blooming relationship with Landon goes through growing pains on Legacies Season 2 Episode 2, “This Year Will Be Different.”
Hope and Alaric bickering at each other again is my second favorite thing about this episode because even though Alaric doesn’t know her they act like they were never separated. But, the number one best moment of the episode is Hope revealing her true identity to Alaric.
The way Alaric almost immediately stands up with a look of hope, pun intended, upon his face, like he suddenly remembers something about her. I think that it’s also a realization to him as well that his intuitions were telling him something, he had a reason for asking Hope to stay and help him fight.

They’re partners in crime and I’m happy to see that being erased from his mind doesn’t change that fact. I also love that he figured out all on his own that Hope could be someone erased from his memory.
This episode feels more like a season premiere, rather than a second episode, due to the reunions, but also the many storylines it sets up. The new headmaster is clearly a little crazy and is forming some hidden witch group, not suspicious at all. Landon and Josie are having a rough beginning to their relationship, and if Hope stays around I don’t foresee it going away.
I feel like the monsters are being sent to hunt Hope down because she still has yet to activate her vampire side and once she does she’ll be able to kill Malivore. Speaking of monsters, there’s no way that Sebastian isn’t some monster in disguise trying to track Hope down. There’s something off about him and I think that he could be connected to the person running around in the red hood.

Either red hood is trying to actively bring back Clarke, or they are the ones bringing monsters up from Malivore. Alaric and Hope are going to have to do some hunting and find them before they raise something they can’t handle.
The funniest moment of the episode, hands down, is Hope and Alaric killing the cyclops in the middle of the lawn, all while Landon is casually sitting there with his headphones in. Sometimes I wish that I could be more oblivious like that, instead of always being on alert.
Landon taking Hope her favorite milkshake even when he doesn’t actively know that it’s her favorite is so sweet and makes me have hope that they’ll find themselves with each other again before the season is over.

MG and Lizzie are not a couple that I would ever think would work, but the way that MG cares for Lizzie and her well-being makes me think otherwise. After the Sebastian phase fades away I hope that he will have the guts to sit her down and talk to her about how he feels. Even if the feelings are not reciprocated I think he needs to do it for himself.
The second season is starting strong and full of exciting new storylines to dive into and I’m looking forward to seeing more Alaric and Hope monster slaying.
