ELINE POWELL Siren Review: Sacrifice (Season 2 Episode 15)

Siren Review: Sacrifice (Season 2 Episode 15)

Reviews, Siren

The mermaids risk being exposed after Ian witnesses something he shouldn’t, Chris returns to Bristol Cove to jumpstart his memory, and Ted pieces together memories from the past to the security footage of Ryn on Siren Season 2 Episode 15, “Sacrifice.”

It was only a matter of time before Ian got so reckless he was willing to lose everything to prove that he was right, and that time is now. With Ryn in his hands, the whole mermaid species are at risk of being exposed. With that, all of Beth’s people on land as well.

If it was a perfect world Ryn would wake up before Ian arrives at his bosses house, but I think that she’ll end up being shown to his boss. If she’s shown to his boss that means there will be more video footage of her transforming in water because he’ll want evidence in person, I assume.

All I want is for Ryn to wake up, overpower the drugs, and rip Ian apart in his car before he can get to his destination. They could easily cover up his death via the military because it’s taking out a threat to the secrecy of mermaids.

If the whole world knew about them the military would have many enemies trying to gather the same information.

It’s a shock to me that Chris willingly goes back to the military after being let free, but he’s also not the same Chris that we knew back in Season 1. He’s been with the military for so long that he’s become brainwashed and can’t handle being in a real-life environment with so much stimulation.

Everything around Chris triggers his old memories of the boat and what happened that night on the water, but I don’t see how he’s getting better by keeping him sat in front of a TV screen night and day.

The military says he’s doing so much better but in reality, it’s a lie because all they’re doing is keeping him in the same routine on a day to day basis and playing a song that isn’t helping him.

If it’s the last thing that they ever get to do, I hope that Ryn, Ben, and Maddie kill Beth and her psychos for misleading them and stealing one of Ryn’s embryos. Now, Ryn hasn’t even been implanted with her child because they were too busy lying and injecting someone else with her egg before doing her.

I have to say, I’m a little disappointed in myself because in the beginning I didn’t trust Beth at all, but I started thinking more and more each episode that she could possibly be an ally. But, now that she’s stolen one of Ryn’s eggs, I was right to believe that she was an enemy the whole time.

It’s also a little confusing that Beth and the doctor mention doing many procedures like such, but how do they know how to do it with a full-blood mermaid? How do they know that Ryn needs to transform before having the procedure? I don’t think that they do, I think that the whole thing is a ruse.

I think that the whole ritual is a ruse used to make Ryn exhausted so she’ll be out of it and not realize what’s going on, but also so that Ben and Maddie aren’t worried about where they are because they’re too worried about how Ryn is doing. Beth isn’t a rookie when it comes to scamming people.

I wonder, could there be a possibility that Ryn is the mermaid he saw underwater the night of Elaine’s accident. I think that the footage he found has jogged a memory in him that his mind hid due to the trauma of the situation and now he’s trying to confirm it.

This season of Siren has been the best season for character progression, backstory, and, for me, one of the best storylines that we’ve seen.

There’s no telling what kind of mess we’re in store for with the finale, but whatever it is I know there’s going to be a major cliffhanger waiting for us.
