Parveen Dosanjh Previews ‘Another Life’ [Exclusive Interview]
Parveen Dosanjh is no stranger to the sci-fi genre. She’s appeared on such shows Colony, Travelers, and Salvation as well as Supergirl, Arrow, and The Good Doctor.
Next, you’ll be able to see Dosanjh on Netflix’s new sci-fi series, Another Life, which follows astronaut Niko Breckinridge (Katee Sackhoff) who is on a mission in search of alien intelligence.
I recently had a few questions for Dosanjh about the show and what we can expect from her character.

Tell-Tale TV: When did you first get your start in acting, and what led to that decision?
Parveen Dosanjh: I used to take performance study classes as my electives in University. My degree was in Kinesiology but I knew that I loved acting when I began preferring those classes over any others.
I switched my profession to acting about seven years ago when I was running a business and lost my passion for that. I actually went to a motivational conference, and that helped me fully commit to my decision to move forward in this industry, and haven’t looked back since.
Tell-Tale TV: What made you excited to be a part of Netflix’s Another Life?
Dosanjh: I’ve always been a fan of the original content that Netflix puts out, so I was excited to be part of a high-quality show and a great community. I was also excited to work with an incredible cast.
Tell-Tale TV: Was there someone you were especially excited to work with?
Dosanjh: Ummm, yes! Selma Blair and Justin Chatwin. I’ve been watching Selma since I was a child, so it was incredible getting to work with her. Also, Justin has so much experience and is such a skilled actor. I was honored to have worked with both of them.
Tell-Tale TV: What makes Another Life unique?
Dosanjh: The exploration and discoveries throughout the series are definitely unique. The cast of course, and the relationship between characters. Also, seeing from the perspective of traveling in space vs. the perspective of being on earth makes it very interesting and unique.

Tell-Tale TV: You play Nani Singh on the series. What can you tell us about your character?
Dosanjh: I can tell you that she’s extremely intelligent and I love that about her. She is also well aware of her knowledge and intelligence, and she likes to challenge her partner at work — Eric (Justin Chatwin), whom she has a close relationship with. She also has moments of being quite quirky and funny.
Tell-Tale TV: This isn’t your first experience on a sci-fi series. Is this a genre you’re particularly drawn to?
Dosanjh: I am definitely more drawn to sci-fi now after being part of this series, and learning how interesting the storylines can be. There really is no limit with the creativity that can go into sci-fi, which I think is really cool. I could definitely see myself working in this genre in the future.
Tell-Tale TV: Because we’re talking about the sci-fi genre, if you ever had the chance to travel to outer space, would you do it? Why or why not?
Dosanjh: I would absolutely travel to outer space! The universe is huge, and it’s crazy to think that we are such small components of it. I think it would be enlightening to discover what we are among. Also, to discover if there is Another Life of course.
Tell-Tale TV: And finally, what’s something in popular culture that you’re loving right now?
Dosanjh: I’m loving the movement towards mindfulness and meditation. I think that the film and TV industry, as well as every other industry, would benefit from being mindful, having awareness, and adding meditation to access our best selves and our best work.
It has become a lot more popular now than ever before, and I believe it will grow to become a more recognized daily practice for many people in different industries.
