Killing Eve: 15 Iconic Villanelle Moments
Killing Eve: 15 Iconic Villanelle Moments (continued):
11. This Little Piggy
Nobody puts Villanelle in the corner. Feeling abandoned and ignored by Eve, whose attention is focused on the Ghost, Villanelle turns the slaughter of a philandering zoophile into an art installation.
She derives her inspiration for the act from a painting featured two flayed men and performs the act in front of a crowd. Her hard work doesn’t have the desired effect.
It’s Villanelle’s most elaborate killing to date, establishing how Eve’s hold over her is causing her to become more unhinged. This live snuff show is Villanelle in her element. She maintains her anonymity while being the center of attention.
12. Smell Ya Later

Knowing she can’t eliminate Eve’s husband (and her perceived competition) using her usual tactics, Eve pays Niko a visit. She plants seeds of doubt about his wife, their marriage, and his masculinity.
Villanelle: You look like someone stuck a mustache on some fudge.
In typical Villanelle fashion, her confrontation is calculated, manipulated, but orchestrated with a few impromptu insults thrown in to seal the deal.
13. FYI
Turning Eve and Villanelle into partners in crime on Killing Eve Season 2 Episode 6, “I Hope You Like Missionary,” blurs the lines of their already complex relationship.
It’s important for us, and for Eve, to remember that Villanelle is not one of the good guys — even the affection she has for Eve has its limits.
Villanelle’s not capable of anything resembling real love, and her attraction to Eve is in large part built on their never-ending game of cat and mouse. Eve can believe she’s calling the shots, but Villanelle is always in charge.
14. I’m So Bored

What others know about Villanelle is, for the most part (and with the exception of Eve), what she wants them to know.
Because she is a pathological liar as well as a consummate performer, there’s a chance her monologue at the A.A. meeting on Killing Eve Season 2 Episode 6, “I Hope You Like Missionary,” isn’t entirely the truth.
Villanelle: Most of the time … most days, I feel … nothing. I don’t feel anything. It is so boring.
But this feels like a genuine look inside someone who struggles with feeling incredibly empty. It doesn’t make her any of a sympathetic character, but it makes her a more multi-layered one. Bored is a staple of Villanelle’s lexicon, but we finally get a true sense of what it means.
15. The End of the Affair

On Killing Eve Season 2 Episode 8, “You’re Fine,” the partnership between Villanelle and Eve goes off the rails in spectacular fashion. It’s like a punk rock version of the Keystone Kops on steroids.
Villanelle: I thought you were special.
There comes a time for many couples when they realize they’re no longer on the same page. Luckily, most breakups don’t usually end with attempted murder. Whenever Villanelle is confronted with a disappointing situation, she acts out like a petulant child.
Villanelle’s inability to handle or process rejection in a normal way is a constant reminder that no matter how charming or caring she can be, she is at her core a cold-blooded killer.
