Reviews, Shadowhunters

Magnus confronts his father about his role in his breakup, and Jace successfully breaks Clary of her ties with Jonathan, only for Jonathan to escape with the Morningstar sword. Meanwhile, Jordan and Maia enjoy some last good moments together on Shadowhunters Season 3 Episode 20, “City of Glass.”

It’s high time that someone told Magnus about what actually happened between him and Alec, but I didn’t expect it to be Maryse. However, I am not complaining. I love how far she’s come when it comes to their relationship, and I’m glad that she knows their connection is something that can’t, or shouldn’t be broken.

Asmodeus thinks that he can control Magnus and use him to take Edom over from Lilith’s power, but he doesn’t understand that Magnus would never help him in his life. Ultimately, that’s why he gets banished to limbo where, hopefully, he can never make his return.

I am head over heels in love with Magnus and Alec both proposing to each other. There’s only so much one person can handle, and they know how to push the limits. It’s thrilling to know that before Magnus put his life on the line again, he and Alec are one once more and are going to get married.

With the series ending in the next week, it’s nice to see them get together before we probably see them get an unworthy ending. I’m hoping for the best since the series will be finished, but I also know that giving happy endings isn’t a favorite thing on this show.

I hate that Magnus is always the one who has to sacrifice everything to try and save the day. I know that others have, obviously, put their lives on the line, but it seems as if Magnus gets the brunt end of things of late. He just got his magic and the love of his life back, and not five minutes later he has to portal to Edom to protect all the shadowhunters from peril.

I think that Magnus knows he’s not coming back because now that Asmodeus is gone he’s more than likely the next in line to take his spot and rule over Edom. I hope that doesn’t happen and that Magnus can quickly come back when he wants, but I don’t think it’s the case.

As for Izzy and Simon, why can they not be together already? I get it, it’s cute to build it up for a final moment of celebration and glory, but they’ve had enough close calls for it to happen already.

Izzy has literally sacrificed her life for Simon many times now, and he’s been there to save her as well. Not only that, but this romance has been hinting itself since Season 1. I’m glad that they became genuine friends and learned about each other and thinks it’s time for them to stop shying away from the subject any longer and go for it.

Jordan stealing the serum is a remarkably romantic move, but I wish that it wasn’t under the terms of him dying. Had Jordan told Maia sooner about his silver poisoning there’s no doubt that she would’ve enlisted the help of Clary and the institute, where they possibly could’ve figured something out to save him.

Maia has been through so much grief and loss in her life, and now it’s finally catching up with her now that she’s the alpha of the pack. She’s no longer going to be soft and let things cloud her judgment anymore because the pack is all she has left, literally. Besides Simon, she no longer has anyone else she can call family.

I wish that she had come upon this attitude before talking to Luke and kept the serum herself because now the praetor lupus has the cure and there’s no telling what they would do with it. They could possibly try to make copies and distribute a cure, or they could destroy and never let anyone know about it. Either way, I don’t think it should be with them.

It’s going to be very interesting to see what happens in the finale next week. I am begging and pleading that Magnus makes a safe return to Alec so they can live happily ever after.
