Siren Review: Entrapment (Season 2 Episode 7)

Reviews, Siren

Nicole reveals who she is to Ryn, Xander’s father’s body is found at sea, Dale is reinstated as Sheriff, and Katrina takes the rest of the mermaids and Helen to a safe place on Siren Season 2 Episode 7, “Entrapment.”

It’s exciting and nerve-wracking that Dale is the Sheriff again because now if something comes back on Glenn’s body, he’s going to go down horribly. Plus, his first day back is interrogating the four people he knows best about the murder of Xander’s father.

Ben admitting to killing Xander’s father is outrageous but incredibly brave to try and take the full heat of everything to save the truth about the mermaids. The rest of the group are a bunch of losers who don’t know how to keep a secret, besides Chris because he has a valid reason for being a little insane.

SIREN – “Entrapment” – Tensions are rising following a shocking discovery. And living in a tank rather than the ocean is starting to have an adverse effect on many of the mermaids. It’s quite astonishing with everything that’s been happening with the siren song that Chris has been allowed to be by himself and not contacted to come back. It’s obvious that Chris has not been doing well on his own because the siren song is eating him alive. At this point, he’s like Decker, except Decker knew to kill himself because he knew there was no cure to the madness.

Ben’s not a very good friend to Chris because if he were, he would have spoken up about also struggling with the siren song effects. There’s the possibility of not wanting Calvin or Xander knowing, but who cares. At this moment Chris needs the reassurance of a friend and Ben denied him of it.

I think it’s safe to say that we all hate Ben’s father, but at least he shows up and attempts to try and save him before he’s put in the cell. He may be a monster when it comes to his views, but Ben’s still his family, so he’s going to try to help keep him safe. Although, I wish he’d feel that way about the environment as well and help stop the drills.

I hope after they leave the station Ben stops associating with Calvin, he’s shown his true colors by attacking Ben and trying to throw everything out in the open from the beginning. Calvin is a sad person who only cares about getting the exposure and money; that’s why he wants to out the mermaids so bad. At least Janine can see that he’s not the best.

Nicole is sneaky and knows how to get people to do exactly what she wants. It’s ballsy of her to get Ryn alone because she knows how advanced she is, she’s made note that Ryn can communicate and understand the needs of humans.

Nicole is all lies; there’s no telling what will happen with Ryn once she’s turned herself over to the military for testing. I want to know how far up Nicole goes in the chain of command, and I wonder if she’s seen what they did to the last mermaid in captivity. I’m assuming not based on her reactions to Cami in person.

Ryn doesn’t need to keep her working with the military a secret from Ben and Maddie because if she does and it comes out later, it’s going to be a huge misunderstanding and could cause some severe side effects.

It’s nice that Katrina finally took one for the team and helped out without having an ulterior motive. Katrina and Ryn would be a pretty kick-ass team if Katrina could learn to control herself better.

I can tell that I’m going to cry when Sarge has to leave Helen and go back to the ocean because he’s gotten so attached to her. He is probably actually in love with Helen, and it’s so cute, but sad at the same time because there’s no way he and Helen will ever be together. Unless Helen decides to let him stay and tries to do what Ben and Maddie are doing with Ryn to him.

I hope that the patterns in the cave help them figure out what happened between mermaids and humans for them to have a falling out because they used to be one. It wouldn’t surprise me if Ben’s family had something to do with the falling out of the species.
