Arrow Ending With Shortened Season 8

Arrow, News

It’s the end of an era in the Arrowverse

Arrow star Stephen Amell announced on Twitter Wednesday afternoon that the flagship comic book series on The CW will be ending with Season 8.

Arrow Season 8 will air 10 episodes this fall to wrap up the series.

“Playing Oliver Queen has been the greatest professional experience of my life… but you can’t be a vigilante forever,” said Amell in the Twitter announcement.

Arrow Season 7 saw Oliver Queen doing time in Slabside after making his deal with Special Agent Samanda Watson at the end of Season 6. Since the premiere, Oliver’s survived his time in prison, to see his family and friends again, take on a new role at the SCPD, and learn what risks come with being unmasked.

While the core trio of Oliver, Felicity, and Diggle have found themselves at odds, the tail end of the season seems to be indicating a changing tide and a return to the OTA (Original Team Arrow) dynamic.

This season has also taken a new approach as they introduced flashforwards to a bleak period of time in Star City, 2040, where there are a multitude of new and familiar faces, including Colton Haynes’ return as Roy, Ben Lewis as a grown-up William Clayton, Joseph David Jones returning as Connor Hawke, and Katherine McNamara as the recently revealed Mia Smoak.

Current and former Arrow cast members and crew, including David Ramsey, Katherine McNamara, Colin Donnell, and Antonio Negret, have shared their feelings about the news. Check them out below.
