The Magicians Review: Marry, F*ck, Kill (Season 4 Episode 4)
Julia finds out that she might be more powerful than she thinks, two couples tackle the subject of consent, and Quentin grieves the loss of his father on The Magicians Season 4 Episode 4, “Marry, F*ck, Kill.”
I am at a loss for words at the cliffhanger of an ending. Is Eliot genuinely dead or is he stuck inside a prison the monster has built inside his head? I hope that the monster is lying so he can get Quentin to help him and Eliot’s actually in some mental prison.
If Eliot’s soul died, I wonder if there’s a way that Julia could bring him back once her powers have returned. Other than Julia’s goddess magic I don’t see any other way they’d be able to bring Eliot back. But, I don’t want to believe that he’s dead. I think it’s a trick.

I’m going to need further proof that Eliot is dead because the monster can’t be trusted, especially when he needs people for his plans. He’s manipulative and knows how to get what he wants out of people because there’s no limit to how far he’ll go.
I know that Julia hasn’t shown any signs of interest in Penny 23, but after that ceremony, I won’t be shocked if they start getting more flirty around each other. I love that both Penny and Josh are so forward about wanting consent, or in Josh’s case knowing that you won’t be able to get permission.
Obviously, Josh and Penny would never do anything to hurt a woman, but to have the conversation on screen is a great thing to have. If anything, Julia was a little overboard in pushing Penny to go for it, but that’s a situational thing.

According to the maenad Julia has extreme power, and that’s not the same as magic. If magic and power aren’t inherently connected, then that explains why Julia is almost indestructible. She gave her magic up to save her friends, but the power of being a goddess never went away.
I think that Julia can still do magic, but she hasn’t figured out how to dip into the power inside of her. Once Julia figures out what’s wrong with her I know she’ll be powerful enough to stop the McCallister’s with the rest of the team by her side.
Margo has been slowly losing her mind. Yes, she’s always been somewhat crazy, but this is on a whole other level of insane. It’s like she’s become a different person without Eliot, and if we never get him back, Margo won’t be able to make the shift back.

I am astonished that Margo likes Josh enough not to let him sacrifice his life to break the werewolf curse. I think that part of her is connected to Josh now, especially after having slept with him, because Eliot is gone and she has nobody else to go through shit with.
Josh has involuntarily become the new Eliot when it comes to being there for Margo, even though she forced him to kill his friend. Margo is having to make tough decisions that she might end up regretting, but it’ll all be worth it if Eliot comes back to them alive.
I know the quickening is supposed to happen only every thirty years, but somehow I feel like we’re not entirely done with it yet. I feel like it was too easy for Josh and Margo to sleep with one another and that be that. Especially after all the buildup on Josh’s side.

It’s sickening that Alice has to help Plover escape the library if she wants to get her friends books. After everything that disgusting old man did I’ll be shocked if Alice doesn’t have a change-up ready to throw at him after she gets what she wants. The child molester deserves to stay at the library for the rest of his pathetic life.
According to Alice, Quentin’s book ends next week, and he’s going to die. Well, with his father passing and Eliot’s soul maybe dying this is too much death at one time. If Quentin dies this soon, I feel like it’s going to be at the hands of the monster.
The monster can only try to be human for so long before he goes back to what he indeed is, a vicious ex-god who doesn’t know boundaries and uses his power for evil.
The writing in Season 4 is absolutely insane. I love these new storylines for our favorite characters; I just wish Eliot had a better one.
