Siren Review: The Wolf at the Door (Season 2 Episode 2)

Reviews, Siren

Katrina takes her chances at defying Ryn, Xander learns of his father’s killer being with the pack, and Maddie’s mom tries to get more involved on Siren Season 2 Episode 2, “The Wolf at the Door.”

Katrina has been a potential risk since the moment she stepped foot on land, and now she’s proving that she can’t be trusted. With the amount of money Ben could get from his family there should be cameras hooked up at every corner that way there’s always someone watching them.

Katrina’s ignorance towards Ryn power or leadership abilities is something that ends up getting Cami bit by a wolf. I won’t even say that Sarge wanted to join Katrina, I think he only joined because he could see that Cami was weak and felt like he needed to be there.

Sarge has never been on Katrina’s side since Ryn came around. He can clearly see who the leader is and who cares for him, that’s why when Katrina stood up to Ryn at the supermarket he showed his support for Ryn and made it known.

I wish that there was more of a fight between Ryn and Katrina when Cami gets bit by the wolf. She can only continue to defy for so long, and for me, that would be a breaking point. Although, I am a little shocked that she willingly left the group, killed the wolf, and brought it back to them. Is it a peace offering to come back? I’m not sure what else it could be.

I love that Ryn wants to learn everything she can about being a human, even pushing Ben to teach her how to drive. I will say, I thought it was going to go way worse than it did. Her dedication to making a human life for herself is strong.

Since the pack is going to be on land for the next eight months, I hope that things get sorted out between Katrina and Ryn for good because they have a whole new bundle of trouble. Now that they’ve almost been caught at the beach and Xander knows his father’s killer is with them he’s going to try to kill him.

There is no question, Xander will try to kill Levi because he still has that rage inside of him for his fathers’ death. To a certain extent I don’t blame him, but at the same time attacking one of your best friends is over the top. I wish that Xander understood the effects of killing Levi and just how much heat on him he’d have.

I’m so happy that Maddie’s mother decided to confront her because it gave Maddie the chance to say what she’s been wanting to say and now everything is in the open. Her mother thinks that she can show up after being gone for almost a year without a word and everything is okay. Hmmm no, that’s not how that works.

I wonder if we’ll get to see the others that Ryn was speaking of this season. I think that it would be a pretty great storyline if Ryn stays the leader of this pack and they grow strong, only for a rival pack to show up. That probably won’t happen, I see Ryn and co having to go back to the water before I see another mermaid pack show up.

Other Thoughts:

  • I can’t believe that Calvin would try to sell the mermaid story for money. They’re going to have to get him in check quick.
  • Xander making snide remarks about mermaids around Nicole is not good, but he’s too dumb to notice.
  • Helen may have her own little fight with Ben’s parents this season. I wouldn’t want to go after Helen; she’s feisty.
