Chicago Med Review: We Hold These Truths (Season 4 Episode 15)
Tragedy strikes a farmers market and sends the Med staff into high alert while also working through an important issue on an intense Chicago Med Season 4 Episode 15, “We Hold These Truth.”
While Chicago Med Season 4 Episode 14, “Can’t Unring That Bell,” was a showcase in the manifestation of guilt in the doctors, nurses, and patients, and ethical boundaries, “We Hold These Truths,” takes a look at the aftermath in the face of a domestic terrorist attack and questions about organ donation in a way that sticks with you.
That’s what happens when one of the patients attacked at the farmers market that come in is declared brain dead. It’s an unenviable position, and it’s heartbreaking to see Jada’s mother go through it all, knowing that if she says ‘yes,’ someone like the racist attacker could benefit.

There are moments when there’s an uncomfortable struggle between doing what’s right for the greater good and striving towards the moral good throughout the hour when it comes to organ donation, and ultimately, I think the story is the better for it.
It’s not a situation with an easy answer, especially given the backdrop being medicine and a medical professional’s duties to any patient they see. Though there are moments that feel heavy-handed, Chicago Med does a solid job of portraying the conflict.
Meanwhile, Robin’s return comes with some interesting insights into not only Dr. Charles’ family life but also feels like kind of a litmus test for her potential return to Chicago.

I like that we get to see more of Dr. Charles’ family life, providing the perfect opportunity to bring Robin back into the story. It’s a welcome surprise and has me hoping we see more of Robin.
I mean, if that initial exchange between Connor and Robin and then her moment with Robin and Ava, things are bound to get interesting.
It feels like there is still something there between the former pair and with the long list of questions I have about what’s going on with Ava, I am very much here to see what this old dynamic coming back into play going forward.

Random Thoughts
- The whole Natalie and Philip thing is still in those early stages that I can’t quite figure out where it’s going or if it will only be used to prop up Will and Natalie’s relationship.
- I’m also glad that there is an acknowledgment that these doctors and nurses have a…unique relationship with boundaries when it comes to patients, treatment, and care.
- There is one story that strikes quite an emotional cord, and it’s that of the young boy and his off-duty cop father. Seeing him get the news that his father died during surgery and then seeing him receive condolences from cops at the hospital is a heartbreaking moment, considering the father’s words asking him to be strong and brave.
- Does the Ethan and Terry story feel a little off to anyone or is that just me? There’s just something about it that doesn’t quite work for me.
