Watch an Exclusive Sneak Peek of the ‘Versailles’ Series Finale
Period drama Versailles is wrapping up its third season – and, sadly, its run as a whole — on Saturday, December 8th at 10/9c on Ovation.
Versailles is the sort of show that feels like it could run forever, given the breadth of its subject matter and the many strange-but-true things that happened over the course of King Louis XIV’s 72-year reign.
(For example: Did you know that Louis was king for so long that he actually outlived most of his heirs? When he finally did pass, his five-year-old grandson succeeded him as Louis XV.)
Alas, it is not to be, and the drama will wrap after three seasons full of all manner of romance, betrayal, royal spats and political machinations. But, if the promo materials for the series finale are anything to go by, Versailles is certainly planning to go out with a bang.
And we’ve got an exclusive sneak peek clip from Versailles Season 3 Episode 10, “The Legacy,” to prove it.
With the Chevalier de Lorraine (Evan Williams) in prison, Princess Palatine (Jessica Clark) confronts King Louis (George Blagden) and Madame de Maintenon (Catherine Walker), begging for his release.
Their subsequent conversation is certainly an emotionally fraught one, in more ways than one. Watch for yourselves below, and check out photos from the episode as well.
Episode Description: Having crushed the Protestants and thwarted Cardinal Leto, Louis (George Blagden) feels invincible. But his family and France are divided and Fabien (Tygh Runyan) is on the loose. And what of the future? What will be his legacy? In an effort to appease the people, Louis decides to go to Paris to give his blessing to the sick, unaware that Jeanne (Jenny Platt) and the rebels are planning to assassinate him.
