Preview — Riverdale Season 3 Episode 7: Chapter Forty-Two: The Man In Black
On Riverdale Season 3 Episode 7, “Chapter Forty-Two: The Man In Black,” the core four are scattered to the wind and in over their heads on all counts.
Archie and Jughead decided to leave Riverdale in their dust and find a place for Archie to hide out from Hiram on Riverdale Season 3 Episode 6, “Chapter Forty-One: Manhunter.” In the teaser trailer for “Chapter Forty-Two: The Man In Black,” the boys find themselves at a farm on the outskirts of Riverdale.
Fresh off of what feels like a break up with Veronica, Archie is looking awful hot and heavy with farm girl Laurie Lake. Archie and Jughead aren’t exactly known for being the best at making plans, so who knows what kind of trouble these two are about to find themselves in.
Still reeling from Archie’s phone call, Veronica must hold down the fort and make bold moves in order to save her speakeasy. Cut off from her parents and facing financial troubles, it might seem like she is backed into a corner, but if we know anything about Veronica we know she’s pretty good at getting out of sticky situations.
Speaking of sticky situations, in a heartbreaking twist on “Chapter Forty-One: Manhunter,” under the increasingly creepy, Edgar Evernever’s advisement, Alice sent Betty to the Sisters of Quiet Mercy in a desperate attempt to keep her safe from the Gargoyle King.
While the intention to keep Betty out of reach of the Gargoyle King may backfire, and any trip to the Sister’s is fraught with darkness, Betty might be closer than ever to figuring out the mystery behind the hooded figure stalking Riverdale. With the return of Ethel and Betty’s investigation instincts in high gear, she’s bound to find something that will help her figure it all out.
Directed by Alex Pillai and written by Janine Salinas “Chapter Forty-Two: The Man In Black” is sure to be another heart-racing, plot-thickening episode of the best season of Riverdale yet.

Episode description: Fearful that he will be caught, Archie (KJ Apa) hits the road and ends up at a farm outside Riverdale, where he meets Laurie Lake (guest star Riley Keough). Meanwhile, after Alice (Madchen Amick) takes extreme measures to ensure Betty’s (Lili Reinhart) safety from the Gargoyle King, Betty finds herself up against a formidable foe from her past. Finally, after learning that La Bonne Nuit is in trouble, Veronica (Camila Mendes) makes a risky business decision that could cost her everything.
